For me it depends. In this particular video, I loved this format to bits and pieces. In others where the reactors are talking a lot, I like being able to hear what they're saying. But if it's mostly gasping and begging and screaming, this was really fucking cool, like being in a movie theater!

It’s a shame that James Caan’s superb performance was overlooked by the Academy. Without his incredibly convincing and subtle acting, this movie is not nearly as good.

You’re one of the lucky ones then. I’m 36 years old & I’ve seen some pretty horrific things on screen, whether it was TV or an internet video. I actually recall a time when KZbin wasn’t as quick to block graphic videos & I still can’t get the image of the poor little kitten (slowly beheaded with a cleaver) out of my mind, a disturbing 15 second clip that was hidden in a random compilation video. Believe it or not, I’ve seen even worse than that … but trust me when I say that you REALLY don’t want to know all I’ve seen. 🙅♀️😭

Haha.....I saw this in the theater when it came out. The place went nuts during this scene. Lots of "OH, MY GOD!"s and "NOOOOOO!"s with a few "WHAT THE FUCK!"s thrown in as well (including me). A woman in front of me got out of her seat and ran...RAN out of the theater. A few other people bailed as well. The last lines delivered there by Bates were totally lost with all of the yelling. Not my favorite movie by any measure but I don't think I've ever experienced a crowd reaction quite like that.

In the book, Annie cuts off one of Paul’s feet, and cauterizes the stump with a blow torch. To minimize gore, director Rob Reiner substituted the scene with the hobbling idea. I think they only made it worse. I’d have rather seen him get his foot cut off. 🤣
