The biggest problem is society doesn't currently give the same weight to when a woman is abusive emotionally or otherwise because men are expected to take it and be strong. I've seen usually progressively minded people fall into this trap and it ends up feeling easier to just not talk about it since that's what everyone expects. I'm not saying this to bash women its just a societal thing that almost everyone is guilty of. I've been hardcore gaslit by an ex and being made to feel crazy and doubt your own recollection of events feels awful or she would cut herself over minor disagreements and wouldn't seem to care when I told her I had ptsd from my mom's suicide attempts. I wish I had something to profound to say here but hopefully things improve as we understand human psychology better in the future.

The funniest thing for me personally about neopronouns is that they're unintentionally digging themselves into a linguistic hole. Most languages don't have the ease of English to construct pronouns, so the wokelets essentially have to do one of 2 things to stay intellectually honest, both bad: either create a double standard by giving non-English speakers a free pass at not using neopronouns, or be extremely anglocentric and make people use the English pronoun even when it fits very awkwardly or poorly in their language's phonetics/grammar. As far as I'm concerned for my personal position, I don't mind if people want to use them. If someone asks me to call them by a certain pronoun, I will intentionally try to do so, even if it's a neopronoun. But if someone calls me a transphobe for accidentally forgetting their neopronoun (or, even worse, calls me a transphobe for not using their neopronoun without even telling me what it is; yes, this happened) I will correct myself and start calling them by the appropriate pronoun, but I will *not* apologize and I will *not* feel bad.

It comes from a trend we’re seeing that attempts to, in a way, “gender” they/them. You have a very simplistic and primary level understanding of gender. Gender is, objectively, a social construct. People don’t necessarily fit under “man” or “woman”, much as not everything we sit on fits under “chair”. There are plenty of examples of cultures both modern and throughout history that have genders that don’t fall along a binary. Basic observation of people will render the idea that these are just “reality” false. Further examination in the fields of biology, psychology, sociology, sexology, and anthropology all support the existence of these identities. Even sex doesn’t fit neatly as a binary.
