You missed out some important details here, Mo actually beat up Yu Sau and won, however he could not bear to finish him off because he saw the string on his hand that his lover gave him which reminded him to hold back. Yu Sau uses this to roll under a truck and Mo got dragged and injured by the truck while chasing after him.
