I finally took the time to upload an audio recording to KZbin. Enjoy one of my more recent originals, He Never Did Ask Her.
He never did ask her to dance. He never did ask her to dance. Said she never gave him the chance, but she would have said "yes" if he asked.
She was spinning through the shadows, shining through the window; put to light the darkness that he never knew he made. But now she's dancing in the meadow, waltzing with the willows. His pain is still alive, but hides its face when she's around. But she's away, 'cause he never did ask her to dance. He never did ask her to dance. Said she never gave him the chance, but she would have said "yes" if he asked.
Afraid his dark would overcome the light; she made the light. Afraid to face the truth that she could want him though he might not be the one he thought she needed in her life. But all she knew was that he never did ask her to, never did ask her to, never did ask her to dance.

Too aware her heart would be the last he'd want to break. Choosing fear and losing her would be his worst mistake. She fell into the arms of fate; he missed his chance. And he knew all too well he never would ask her to, never would ask her to, never would ask her to dance.
Stepping gently through the rain, just so. They told him, "Let her go. She is so full of light and life and you don't want to bring her down."
So he never did ask her to dance. He never did ask her to dance. Afraid his dark would overcome the light she made, the light.

This is a most achingly beautiful song, Grace. When I first heard it, I wept; thinking of all the missed opportunities I have experienced in my life. Of course, that is selfish thinking! Now I realize that by jettisoning the fardels and burdens of misunderstood needs (both mine and others'), I can accept the past, forgive (and be forgiven), and keep living life, hoping for other opportunities to dance. It takes courage to dance (and to sing); and also to ask someone to dance and sing. I admire your courage; and I thank you for sharing your courage and graceful heart. Moreover, I thank you for such a wonderful song. It also takes courage for the other one (the one who never asked) to keep on. As I listen to your song, I think of maybe the song of the person who never asked, "The Long and Winding Road." ... Such a contrast between the upbeat, happy-go-lucky dance videos and the introspective, minimalist song videos. If I didn't know I would never guess they are made by the same person. That Grace can pull both off successfully demonstrates a rare, well-rounded maturity in a young person. When can we expect an album of your songs to be released? I would buy one.

i love this but I would like it even more if you slowed the tempo a little. Embrace those words a little longer and let me savor your great story a little slower and not rush though it. I think it would make a great video for you. You could open it with the song with you looking at the person you want to dance with. After a few seconds show you closing your eyes when you open them you could be dancing with him. At the end of the video close your eyes again and when you reopen them show him walking out the door. Cut back to you with a tear in your eye. I think that would be a great chance to show off all of your talents. Your writing, singing , and dancing all in one video. I would love to see it. Keep making the world smile and be well.
