People say they are always hungry on a raw diet when in my case I over eat cooked food. To me cooked food is like popcorn, I can comfortably eat three plates! But raw makes me full with just one bowl of salad with lots of different vegetables.

I really resonated with this guy. Some of the things he said were so obvious but just hit me so hard. Haven't heard many people talk about raw with an addict recovery kind of mind set which is what made it work so much better for me than the average talk on these subjects. Vulnerability is so powerful. Thanks for this one especially!

Dan's conversation with you was so awesome! I loved it. I learned a little tidbit from him when he said he dehydrates his nuts and freezes them. That goes a long way in making eating raw food a lot more convenient and faster to prepare. I also like what he said about the content you consume. What I take into my eyegate and eargate makes a tremendous difference in how I think and feel. Keep the videos coming Gillian. I love them!

we evolved as obligate carnivores, the plants you're eating are man-made. They do not exist in nature, humans cultivated all of them. Dont follow this advice it will wreck you long term just like it does to other vegans. Raw vegan is absolute worst diet apart from probably fruitarian.

I am glad to run across this video. ❤ i started eating mostly vegan and non-processed food the end of 2022. I have lost 25 pounds and just feel so much better overall. I have a ways to go with my healthy eating journey, and this inspires me to go further with my food journey. Years ago, I ate nothing but fruit until noon every day, then ate well the rest of the day. I quickly lost 20 pounds in just 3 weeks. I do use Vital Proteins collagen, but agree that we don't need so much protein. Thunk about it. All big, meaty, muscular animals that are used for food eat what? Plants! I juiced for a couple of years, using both veggies and fruit for the first meal of my day, then a protein shake for the 2nd meal. This got me through my college eating as I had no time to cook. I felt so good and lost about 40 pounds. I stayed hydrated too. I was able to focus on my studies. I graduated with honors. Often, changing our eating is a process of finding what works best for us individually.

Happy Lunar New Year, Gillian ".. cause I don't drink like, ten glasses of wine." lol. yeah... that was me, loved red wine, AND it was a sacrement, it really connected me to my own Self, and i always have felt ( per the A blood type idea) , that it was medicinal -- for me. Along with green tea. However, i could not just have one or two. And i wanted to locate that same connected feeling, without using any substance. So I stopped it in late October, and then my landlady gave me gift wine for Christmas.!! I had it, finally, as a rite of closure, and since then, have been eating almost totally fruit, salad, some nuts and seeds... and making fabulous salad dressings with tahini. I don't tend to think "raw" - i like to think, live and whole. And am working my way toward less and less, as I realize that we really need less and less. Have not drunk coffee for about 20 years. Never miss it. But at one time i used to feel it gave me creative energy.

Nicotine isn't addictive. It's actually an essential nutrient in all vegetables. The second highest vegetable with nicotine is Eggplant. It's in all the juices that you're drinking. Celery has it, tomstoes, broccoli, etc. It's pyroxene that was added to tobacco that was the addictive chemical. As per a Harvard study.

The most common argument in favor of B12 is that it can't be obtained from plants, only animal products, so just wanted to know if you had additional reason(s) to add or if that was it? I see ok cool ya I have some videos on that and what I think can sometimes change in time I do see the points of people like Morse saying we aren't cleansed properly too ! for me i'd rather be safe and get the supps after what happened from my own experience I do think by nature we are meant to be outside all the time and in the soils etc and would naturally be more "dirty" too and getting way more of the nutrient than we do in this super hygienic/indoor modern day ! But I also don't claim to know it all or think I know everything,)

@@GillianBerry You seem very open-minded to new information, which is lovely to see. I've gradually changed my views on vitamins over the years and especially recently. The "better safe than sorry" viewpoint is a very popular one I'm coming across. My main goal is presenting veganism as a lifestyle with a perfect cruelty-free diet that requires no man-made extracts. I believe B12 has become the Achilles' Heel for vegans and a mystery that needs to be unraveled. I'm heavily influenced by Vivian Vetrano's work as well, God bless her soul, what a pioneer. I'll send you a copy of my book when it's published, if you like.

To get off coffee/or satisfy the desire for that experience; I switched to Teeccino (which is expensive but delicious in numerous flavors) it's a prebiotic so I justify it that way. There is also Chicory Root, or many coffee substitutes (Pero Inka, Dandelion root etc) all of which are prebiotics. Warm with some fresh home made nut/seed milk and some stevia, and I don't miss coffee at all.

caffeine constricts the blood vessels in the brain, and drinking coffee also reduces blood flow to the brain. So when you stop drinking it, the blood will start rushing again - but it's trying to flow through narrow and shrunken blood vessels = very painful experience! the more you drink, the worse this condition gets - so heavy coffee drinkers can suffer these headaches for quite awhile when they quit. frequency and amount are the main factors. someone who only has a cup of coffee every few days probably isn't going experience any headaches, even if he quits cold turkey. if you don't want to give up coffee or find you crave it sometimes but want to avoid caffeine, the best option is to only drink swiss water process decaf - that decaf process uses no chemicals and eliminates virtually all of the caffeine from the beans.

It was trendy a decade ago. Surely someone has a fresh take on it! I know there's Dr Brooke Goldner who healed Lupus with green smoothies and I did he recipe for 6 weeks last year and I felt great. My digestions is way better on raw foods. Ideally you want to eat high fruit. it's the veggies that are harder to break down. I do much better limiting vegetable matter to salads. A lot of people do the raw crackers and such in the beginning because they're transitioning from processed convenience foodstuff and the crackers help give some variety.

Hello! Can anyone recommend a real good raw recipe book?
@jamesd755

I was fully raw and 100% organic, inc raw activated nuts/seeds, and only fluids were water and coconut water. Felt absolutely no different. Never expected to feel any difference. I'd only stopped self harming, I hadn't done anything significant to reverse the damage following the standard western lifestyle for 45 years had caused. I'm going to do my first juice feast soon though and have higher hopes..

@@GillianBerry Thanks for reply! And double thanks for replying so positive to my somewhat hostile comment :D Eating raw makes a lot of sense, and feels mostly good (only cold in our cold winters) but so difficult for me socially and practically, if I do not have food prepared in advance, tired and hungry. I will try raw till 4 more :) Good luck with your channel, I am everytime amazed how you find time to reply every message and every comment, amazing!

We are pure herbivores. Unfortunately many people out of a bias towards their conditioned meat diet give unintentionally incorrect unscientific advice sometimes. We are pure herbivores. For example We don’t salivate for dog food like dogs because we have completely different tastes to natural meat-eaters. People don’t have the instinct to kill animals or else fresh roadkill and the stench of death would not nauseate them. It’s why kindergartens go pumpkin-picking and not the slaughterhouse which are kept far away from the towns so the literal screams can’t be heard or abattoir smelled. It’s not the food their physiologies were meant for. The fact that humans freeze and have no fur proves that’s an unnatural environment for them. It’s why Eskimos have worse health the more they rely exclusively on meat. Humans are meant to live in tropical climates where fruit and leafy greens are abundant. Mostly so-called Neanderthals lived near the glacier borders and they didn’t survive well there. The environment is hostile to humans. We barely have any covering like fur. We have to artificially resort to clothing. Plant-based diets are better for the earth too. Most Hindus and Buddhists were always predominately vegetarians (no meat, fish, or eggs). The staple of the common European diet has always been predominantly grains, fruits, vegetables. Modern diary is demonic as they say and part of the holocaust but maintaining and utilizing milk is perfectly fine. Cows can graze on rough land not suitable for growing crops and turn it into nutritious food. Milk has b12 is a complete protein, has vitamin d (good if you can’t get sun) etc. It’s arbitrary to say humans can’t drink cows milk. No reason not to. Many species utilize milk from other species in a symbiotic relationship, including certain ants, birds, monkeys, etc. One can stigmatize it but milk is literally food produced for nourishment similar to a fruit’s skin, since the fruit wants to be eaten to spread the seed (the seeds themselves can be toxic since they don’t want to be eaten. The fruit flesh is just a temptation to animals). Milk isn’t necessarily bad if the cows are not slaughtered, and not all milk is made the same. A2 milk from bumped brahmin cows (Bos taurus indicus) is healthier and closer to human mother’s milk. Although it’s often said humans are the only animals who drink another animal’s milk, this isn’t totally true. Humans have a symbiotic relationship with cows and bulls. A cow produces more milk than its calf will drink, and if given Love and affection they’ll produce milk for years after giving birth (just naming cows has been shown to increase their milk production). Cows are also artificially forced to reproduce and increase their numbers. There are many such brahmin cows who thrive even better in a forest setting. Milk is also a complete protein and even has b12 among its other benefits. Land use in animal farming is arguably one of the most pressing environmental issues we face. At least 26 percent of the world’s ice-free land is used for livestock farming, while 33 percent of croplands grow grain to feed them. The leading cause of any global warming is due to loss of rainforest to the cattle industry. Peak warming periods were from 1920-40 and again in the 80s. Neither period was one of industrial expansion, but both saw vast reductions of forest area and, in the 30s, areas under cultivation. That’s one reason why there were no frozen poles millions of years ago when the earth was much more temperate and barren. The 2010s were cooler than the 2000s. It’s another excuse to bypass laws and act like a dictator.If you want to save the planet, stop eating animals (meat, fish, eggs). We don’t salivate for dog food like dogs because we have completely different tastes to natural meat-eaters. Humans are pure herbivore (taxon: frugivore, like fruit-eating gorillas). Human jaws move sideways like a cow and deer or gorilla (are we closer to wolves than gorillas?). Omnivores/carnivores can only chew up and down like a dog or cat-not sideways. We grind our food with our flat teeth whereas real meat-eaters chomp their food. Humans are frugivores like gorillas: blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/human-ancestors-were-nearly-all-vegetarians/ Humans have a low ph with food in the stomach. Once we eat our ph becomes like that of an herbivore (It’s misleading to claim low ph in the human stomach acid being correlated to omnivores’ low ph-not so when food is being digested, the important part). You have long intestines also exactly like a monkey whereas meat-eaters have very short digestive tracks. Finally frontal eyes don’t make you a meat-eater either. Gorillas and monkeys etc also have forward-looking eyes for depth perception, etc. Many carnivores like sharks also have eyes on the sides of the face. Humans also sweat which meat-eaters don’t do (they use the tongue for ventilation as they can’t sweat, or paws. Mammalian omnivore pores are minimal). Meat eaters also have claws and sharp teeth which humans don’t. Our hands are designed to pick fruits obviously. We can’t even outrun predators. Humans and Herbivores have an appendix, well-developed Facial muscles, expanded jaw angle, jaw joint location above the plane of the molars, jaw motion (sideways), carbohydrate-digesting enzymes in saliva, pH 4-5 stomach acidity with food in the stomach, the liver cannot detoxify vitamin A, moderately concentrated urine in the kidney, etc. I could go on and on and on and on! We are obviously anatomically herbivore taxon frugivore like gorillas and apes-not even omnivore. No one salivates at fresh roadkill but they do when they see fruit which wants to be eaten. We couldn’t even kill and eat most animals since we aren’t fast enough nor do we have the anatomy such as claws and fangs etc. We see the full color spectrum (except x-rays etc) like herbivores whereas meat eaters don’t. Our major jaw musles are messeter and pterygolds whereas in meat eaters it’s temporalis. The peristalsis of meat eaters don’t require fiber to stimulate but herbivores like humans do. Our stomach acid with food in it has a ph of 4-5 like herbivores rather than the 1 or less for Omni/carnis. The placenta of meat eaters is zonary-shaped whereas in plant eaters like humans it’s discoid. Meat eaters can digest vitamin A in large amounts (liver detoxification) whereas we herbivores can’t. We also sweat through our skin not our tongues. We have smooth tongues like monkeys and most herbivores (not tough like omnivore/carnivores). Our digestive track is 9 times the length of our bodies like apes, whereas other herbivores have 20 times the length, whereas carni/omnivores’ is 1.5-3 times. We have alkaline saliva like herbivores, we have well-developed facial muscles to facilitate chewing whereas omni/carnivores don’t have strong facial muscles in order to facilitate gaping their mouths wide for swallowing (just as meat eaters mostly have jaws that only move up and down for chomping whereas humans can move the jaw sideways for chewing like cows, deers, monkeys. Humans have simple livers whereas meat eaters have complex. Herbivore bile flow is weak compared to that of meat eaters, and it takes us much longer to digest food.
