Great interview as always. And I can attest the plant based diet really works. I started this in February and have now lost about 40 kg (80 lb). It took only small changes to show big results, and the weight has been dropping like never before. The crucial step was to let go of processed foods and junk foods - "moderation" and portion control merely leave you feeling hungry and craving more, because that diet is so nutritionally depleted that cutting portions merely starves the body of the tiny amounts of nutrients left in those foods. When I switched over to a mostly vegan, mostly unprocessed diet, and ate enough fruit, veg and legumes to satisfy nutritional needs, I found my appetite went down very quickly. Some days I had to remind myself to eat because I literally did not feel hungry. It was the first time in my life I had been able to stay on a diet for more than 3-6 months - it's now been 11 months and counting. A key factor was getting rid of the addictive junk foods, especially cheese. The more fruit and vegs I ate, the less appetite I had - all cravings went thataway. I used an app to track macronutrients and micronutrients, and adjusted as needed. The app was a great way to find out exactly where the excess fat and salt had been lurking, and that led to me ditching most salad dressings and bread. I was finally able to find wholewheat wraps with very little added salt, but mostly I replaced bread with potatoes, and they provide a wide range of nutrients as well as satiety. I tried a low carb diet years ago and it made me so sick I had to abandon it within weeks. I later learned just how damaging such diets are. I also tried a 100% vegan diet of mostly raw foods, but that didn't provide enough calories so I was constantly hungry. I abandoned that because I felt too tired on it. Now I have finally found a happy medium - a 20% fat plant based diet that is high in nutrients and provides enough satiety. Crucially, it is a sustainable diet, not a temporary fix - I know I can stay on this for the rest of my life, because I feel healthier than I have for over 10 years. Keep up the good work with the great information, interviews and shared success stories.

Dear Chuck, I love you so much for your kindness and compassion and the way you ask questions in your interviews. You are such a blessing to us all now. I am almost 69 and very slender (size zero jeans) and eat a ton of organic veges, but my Mom was always overweight. I have two very painful memories from my childhood. One was seeing a fat lady at Pizza Hut in Houston, Texas sitting alone with a large pizza. The other was my overweight mom bringing an umbrella to my 1st grade classroom.... and I felt shame. :(. I am still bewildered when I meet women who talk about dieting and lowering their carbs etc. This is so painful to watch.

My most devastating moment was when I was on a company trip and we were at an amusement park and I was unable to fit in the seat of the ride that we had been waiting almost an hour to get on to and I had to leave everybody behind and go behind the gate.

It is truly a blessing to watch the Exam Room. I am trying to become wholly WFPB but am not quite there yet. I have no real health issues except for weight, so I am thankful for that, but I also know things could change if I don’t make changes in my diet. Each one of these episodes and the people sharing their experiences strengthens and uplifts me, and your obvious care and compassion show through continually. Thank you so much. Louise J

A few weeks ago I'm running and some older guy yells at me, "stop adding sugar to your food." Now i ran a marathon on October, I'm down to 282 from 308. And i haven't added sugar to any food in more than 25 years. Sugar didn't make this body and nobody on the street knows my journey and where I am in it. Frankly it's embarrassing having somebody scream this at me in public when I'm out running. I can see why lots of folk would stop running in public from that experience.

I used to eat enough for two or three people at a time. I did it when others weren't looking. I, also, am learning boundary setting for people in my life. I, once even hid two Edward's single serve pies in between salad mixes so my boyfriend wouldnt see it. We were in different vehicles and I scarfed them down before they could even slightly thaw. I'm so glad that I'm not that person anymore. I struggle still but it's so much less.

You too are such an inspiration to me, a processed food addict. I will continue to watch your videos to learn and be inspired. You both look and sound healthy and wonderful. I'm older (in my 60's) and am not going to give in to a miserable last phase of life by giving in to the addictive foods. You give me hope that we can live much happier lives by using food as our medicine and nutrition instead of recreation! Thanks so much. Keep the videos coming!

Thank you both for this excellent interview. The term 'processed food addiction' speaks volumes. The processed food companies have engineered products that target reward areas of the brain and under these circumstances anyone could become addicted. I speak as a slender person who has never been overweight or dieted but there are certain snack foods that I find very hard to resist. My heart goes out to those who have been exploited by the food industry and let down by the medical profession. Sending best wishes from the UK.

Hello, and thank you for being so open and available as a WFPB advocate with your story. I have also struggled with food addiction, but just food in general. I do stay away from non WFPB foods with exception to an occasional pastry to taste or try. However, I notice that I seem to have a love for eating in general, and even now following a WFPB lifestyle, I am still a foodie and eats large volumes. My question is whether you notice even eating healthier, do you still want to just EAT for the sake of eating sometimes?

Question? So I’ve been trying to go plant based for years but the issue that I’m running into is the fact that once I get to the 3rd day of being plant based my body starts to hurt really bad. For me, it took 2 weeks of crying, intense longing for specific junk foods, etc. I focused on stuffing myself with program compliant foods, keeping non program foods out of the house, and getting high from exercise. I felt like the world had gone from being a color movie with full sound to a silent, black and white movie. I felt horrendous. Prior to this change I ate in a very processed high fat, high sugar way with animal products. I bought and ate at a single sitting 2 gallons ice cream, 1 giant chocolate cake from the warehouse club plus 2 liters soda daily and all the fast food I had already eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I especially liked "Chinese", "Steakhouse" and "Indian" buffets. Then there was the assorted candy before bed. Processed foods and seeking them filled ALL my waking moments. I got up at night to eat too. If you stay the WFPB no SOS, after 2 weeks you will feel better and the natural food will start to taste great. You can do this friend!

Try Dr. John McDougal's free program on his website. For maximum weight loss he limits fruit to 3 servings per day and suggests 1/2 the plate be nonstarchy veggies, 1/4 protein like beans and 1/4 starch like rice, potato, etc. I also eat a plate of lettuce leaves dressed with vinegar and lemon. If I'm super hungry I will add clear vegetable soup.

I know many people who are Keto or Akins and have lost 100 pounds or more and have kept the weight off for many years. It all boils down to calories and that's a fact. Some people do great on a plant base diet, I do not. Others like myself eat meats, dairy, and fatty salad dressing with lots of low carb veggies. My health has turned around and I feel great. I was plant based for yrs. and felt horrible and I would binge on potatoes, pasta, and rice and get fat. I do not hardly any carbs. I have been in Ketosis for at least 6 yrs. and I have no interest in carbs anymore. I think what may be good for you is not going to work for me. As far as you gaining weight when you first started Keto it's because you were eating to many calories. After three months or so you should be fat adapted and losing a lot of weight. These people are not making this up. Keto or Akins does work if you don't go over the calories. Eating a. plant based diet works as well but I know many Vegans who are fat and that's a fact. They eat everything that says vegan and they eat to many calories and calories is what causes a person to gain weight. I think both ways of eating are healthy if it works for you! How you feel mentally and physcally feel. Blood pressure and insulin levels and of course blood work and mine are perfect. I'm a nurse and there are many people thriving on Keto. I had a carb addiction and now I never crave carbs literally at all and that is a gift.

There is so much wrong believing today about who Jesus is. I am asking you to throw out every idea, concept, and picture that you may have of a “religious” Jesus. Allow me to introduce the real Jesus to you, for this is where it all begins. I’m not talking about the religious Jesus you may have heard about growing up, but the real Jesus who walked along the dusty streets of Jerusalem and upon the raging waters of the Galilee. He was the one whom the sick, the poor, the sinful, the down and out, and the outcast instinctively gravitated to and felt at ease with. He was God in the flesh and He manifested God’s tangible love. In His presence, those who were imperfect didn’t feel fearful of Him, or sense judgment or condemnation from Him. To those who sought Him for healing, restoration, and supply-no matter what their past or background-He always extended a loving, compassionate heart and hand to them and oversupplied their need. Contrary to what a lot of people think, you don’t have to be “religious” to have access to God and His help. In fact, the less “religious” you are, the better. The real Jesus didn’t come to bring a new religion. He didn’t come to be served and waited upon. No, He came to serve, and serve He did. The real Jesus created the universe with one command and orchestrated the paths of each planet so that none would collide. He had every right to demand service from those He created, yet He supplied service. He bowed down and with His own hands washed the grime and filth from His disciples’ feet. Those same hands would later be pierced with coarse nails at the cross, and He would with His own blood wash us of the grime and filth of all our sins by taking them upon His own body. What a far cry from the condemning, judgmental, faultfinding God whom many have portrayed Him to be! This is the true Jesus-totally unlike what many of us have been taught about God. He is willing and able to meet your need today and love you into wholeness. If You Only Knew “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water…. Anyone who drinks this water [from the well] will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:10, 13-14 NLT John 4 tells the story of a shunned Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus when she came to draw water at a well. When she asked Jesus why He (a Jew) would ask her (a despised Samaritan) for a drink of water, this was His amazing response: that she would ask Him for living water, the only thing that would satisfy her from within and slake her deep thirst for acceptance and love forever. What an amazing Savior! Although this woman had a past of looking for love in all the wrong places that imprisoned her in shame and self-loathing, Jesus met her at her point of greatest need with the offer of Himself, the living water. He knew all that she had ever done and yet offered her the true intimacy that fully satisfies every aching need. He invited her to discover, taste, and experience His perfect and unconditional love. Jesus is saying the same thing to you today: If you only knew who it is who comes to you in your darkest and weakest moments. If you only knew this gift of God who will never leave you nor forsake you, who has gone before you and who comes to you in the midst of your storms. If you only knew the One who reaches out to you even when you have failed and who doesn’t hold your past mistakes or present failures against you. Beloved, if you only knew this gift of God who offers the living water of His unconditional, endless love to you and you drink of that love, you will never thirst again. You won’t need to look for love or acceptance in all the wrong places, have your heart broken and fearful about the future, and have your life derailed. You can wake up with a fresh expectation of good every day. Jesus was essentially inviting the woman to ask Him for the living water of His love. Will you do that today? Your life will never be the same again when you personally experience His love! The Good Shepherd He will protect His flock like a shepherd, He will gather the lambs in His arm, He will carry them in His bosom; He will gently and carefully lead those nursing their young. Isaiah 40:11 AMP I want to show you how there are no insignificant details in the Bible by uncovering hidden truths concealed in the names of the six cities of refuge found in Joshua 20. Read along with me and let’s see what the Lord has for us: “So they appointed Kedesh in Galilee, in the mountains of Naphtali, Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron) in the mountains of Judah. And on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness on the plain, from the tribe of Reuben, Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh” (Josh. 20:7-8, boldface mine). Let me give you the meaning of the names in order of their appearance. Kedesh means holy place or sanctuary. In the cities of refuge, people sought asylum in the sanctuaries. Then we have Shechem, which means shoulder. Shechem, by the way, is where Jacob’s well is. Our Lord Jesus met the woman at the well in Shechem. Joseph was buried in Shechem and his tomb is still there. Next, we have Kirjath Arba, which is Hebron. Hebron means friendship or fellowship, and is the place where Abraham and Sarah were buried. Then, on the east side of the Jordan River, we have Bezer, which means fortress, followed by Ramoth, which means heights or highly exalted. We end with Golan, which means rejoicing or joy. Now, let’s put these names together to see the message for us: You can find sanctuary (Kedesh) on the Lord’s strong shoulders (Shechem), which He offers in fellowship (Hebron). He is our fortress (Bezer) and He highly exalts (Ramoth) us above all our troubles with great rejoicing (Golan). Hallelujah, all praise and glory to the Name above all names! The names paint a stunning picture of our Lord Jesus, stooping down to where we are, and offering His stronger shoulders to us when we are fearful and weary. What a beautiful picture of the Good Shepherd rescuing His lost sheep! Beloved, when we have failed and are completely worn out by the fights of life, He offers His shoulders in fellowship. He is our sanctuary. He is our holy place, where we are set apart from the world. When we respond to His desire for fellowship and climb on His broad shoulders, He lifts us up. The Lord bless you and the Lord keep you. The blessings of God will manifest in your life throughout this week. You’ll see them pop, one by one. Acknowledge them, and thank the Lord for them. The Lord keep you, preserve, protect you and your loved ones throughout this week from the COVID-19 virus, and from every disease, and from every danger, harm, and from all the powers of darkness. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord make His face to shine on you. Behold Him as He is, so are you. His face is full of glory, shining on you, granting you His favor everywhere you go this week. Favor surrounds you like a shield. The Lord lift up His countenance on you and grant to you and your families His shalom peace, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. God bless all of you!” Click here for video that will bless your ❤ kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIu6aJiKl7lkg80 GRACE PARTY!!!!! JESUS IS THE DJ🥳🥖🍷
