This was such a huge win because not only were we away from home but we we were away against a side that were 3rd in the league, had beaten Liverpool away, had held Chelsea to a draw with 10 men, and had two former attacking Newcastle players looking to haunt us, so it was a proper acid test this - but my word what a performance, and to able to turn it around in style from going behind at what's become a very difficult ground is very impressive. Got favourable games coming up, this could be a pivotal game in our season HWTL

Joelinton should be captain really, in my opinion, leads by example in every aspect of his game. Can't knock the lad at all. From Steve Bruce days, where even when he was an isolated number 9. He paid for his own personal trainers because the coaching and training under Bruce was non existent, making sure he trained extra after training to get in better shape and improve. Now look at him, absolute heartbeat of newcastle and embodies the geordie culture to a tee. Never has he once complained, shirked away or stopped trying. No matter what he turns up and puts a shift in to the best of his abilities. He must cover some miles for this team, literally never ever stops from start to finish. Deserves the best of luck for his career, hopefully staying with toon.

Can’t argue with who took the top spot in Joelinton, he was tremendous today and pleased he grabbed a goal too. I think Lewis Hall deserves more of a mention though, he had an excellent game keeping their winger out of mischief on the regular. I also think Newcastle should be setting their sights on better than Elanga - does nothing for me. Longstaff again putting in a very good shift, alongside Burn who had another great game at the back. Keep up the great content Craig. Enjoy Athens - yamas! 🍻
@mamofoneteen5178Ай бұрын
Fantastic to see the lads back in the top half of the table, collectively a much, much better away performance. Enjoyed the game today, Joelinton was brilliant, great to see him get a goal. He remains my favourite! They all look like they’re enjoying their football again which makes all the difference.
@phoenixfire6559Ай бұрын
I mentioned it a couple of games ago, I'd start Joelinton on the right because Gordon isn't nearly as effective on the right and he and Isak are our best two attackers so play them in their best positions. Joelinton is a great utility player and showed he has probably the second-best left foot in the squad as I don't think anyone but Almiron could score that goal with their left. Yes, it breaks up Willock/ Joelinton on the left but Howe can always get them to change for spells within a match to mix things up. Longstaff doesn't do much in midfield but offers balance and [lots of] luck so Tonali has to stay out for now. I also said Barnes is great off the bench and that's his permanent position +/- starting when Gordon is injured. As for defence, Burn made some vital tackles but was fortunate not to be sent off. The first yellow he should not have gotten (foul on Livramento) while the second I thought he may have won the ball. However, the moment the ref gives the freekick it's a clear second yellow but Antony Taylor is a poor ref having gotten numerous decisions wrong all game. I still think our defence looks a lot better with Botman at CB. Burn is just too slow that he finds himself dropping deep and still being outpaced. Furthermore, Burn is really clumsy and unnecessarily grabs players in the box - he will give a penalty away this season - I'm calling it now. When Botman is fit, I'd slot him straight back and have Burn become a guy we bring on the last 15 minutes to see out games with his height. In January we should try and get Mbuemo or Guehi +/- a striker if Wilson leaves. I'd love Gyokores, especially with the Isak connection but Jonathan David is also a great shout. If we can't get the players Howe wants then just save the money for next Summer.
@JackBurton3963Ай бұрын
Guehi is a quick ball playing centre back. His positioning is suspect. We need a centre back who is very strong, tall, quick, wins the vast majority of their ground and aerial duels and is good on the ball. Basically I’m describing Saliba, Konate, Diomande and those types. Nothing gets through them. Anticipation top notch. Absolute rocks. That’s what we need.
@truthfactory8139Ай бұрын
Isak needs to be in the 6 yard box for crosses and corners. He would get a lot more goals from corners and crosses if he goes in the 6 yard box. He often, almost always drift out to the edge of the 18 yard area which is not where he needs to be. Today proved that point. I thought everyone had a great game. First half, Forest did not have a lot of the ball but they planned to take NUFC apart on the break but it was not working. Newcastle came out in the 2nd half intent on not losing this game in Eddie's 600th game in the PL. Isak led the line and made a lot of runs. I thought big Joe was brilliant. Tonali came on and added pace and vision. Willock lost the ball a couple of times and one ended in a Forest goal but he was also exceptional today. If they play like they did today and v Chelsea and Arsenal, a clime up the table is guaranteed and a good run in cups, hopefully winning one..

I thought it was a great away performance. Even 1-0 down at HT I felt we were likely to win. Agree with the merit stars, but Lewis Hall impressed me today. He's starting to look like a man rather than a boy, and I think he'll be a great player long term.

Good summary Craig. The crazy thing that has happened with joelinton in recent weeks is the realisation that his best position is left of the front 3 (same as Gordon and Barnes). We are now spoilt for choice on the lefty while struggling for a solution on the right - that surely is a must for the January window. I agree with you that barnes is better off the bench - his goals per minutes on the pitch must be up there with the best in the league. Burn was class today - he’s having a great season!

Had another 2 very very good chances to score and 4-1 wouldn’t have been a bad reflection of the game when it finished. They’re in the mix with a few other clubs but i suspect the top 4 will be Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal & Chelsea - Newcastle, Villa, Spurs and Man Utd will be competing for the next 2 places. Anthony Taylor clearly hates Newcastle! Schar sent off in match 1... Tino elbowed to the face right in front of him and play moves on so that Burn has to stop it and gets a ban-earning booking for his troubles... the corner kick that shouldn't have been becomes a goal-scoring free-kick... 3 pens within 5 mins, and none allowed! I also like that Howe is mixing things up. I have been saying for ages, that he has been too rigid. So what if Tonali came on for only a half. There is a long way to go in the season, we have two cups still to play in. We should all calm down a bit and trust that all the players need to bite a bit more. I would give Gordon some time on the bench (if not injured) to think about what he actually wants, weather thats to kick at Newcastle and forget about Liverpool or put himself up for sale. He's dropped way off over a 90m match. Has flashes in the games at the moment and I know they are important. Got to start Miguel Almiron ahead of him. He's a far superior player

@ aye you were close enough mate , been a running joke with the lads where I sit .. 65 .. 66 .. 🤣 let’s hope we get no where near that total again ! 🤞

Totally agree. Brilliant performance. Two negatives; Isak lacking that cutting edge in front of goal like he had last season, and lack of ability to execute effective corners / set play.
@PhilPhaАй бұрын
If only Isak could only find his form of last season we would be red hot.
@johnenglish929Ай бұрын
3-1 away to Forest after being 1-0 down and Isak getting our first. If not red hot we’re certainly getting warm !

Scored 4 in his last 4 not bad form is it 😂

@@Mark-b2u5v what about the first 5/6 games tho?however I have to agree with you he is finding his feet now and showing more consistency.

Please, one of you journos must ask Eddie what was the point in bringing on Osula when he did.
@NeilBell-w8nАй бұрын
He'll be in the Guinness Book of Records now for time on the pitch, around 5 seconds I would guess
