I think it's worth mentioning that the first season Eddie Howe took over everyone was singing Longstaffs praises of how much better he looked and then the injury crisis season, where he admittedly looked half the player, he was taking injections so he could play through an injury I have deffo slated longstaff many times and it feels even more baffling when we have someone of Tonali's quality on the bench but one thing that is certain, is if it works and we win games, we need to get behind Longstaff and actually show him some love because he genuinely looked good vs Arsenal

This was the wake up call Arsenal needed. I am an Arsenal fan but I am fed up with the constant praising of Arsenal defence as the best in the league when we have conceded 11 goals already in 10 games. Arsenal players have let the praise get to them and have become complacent especially Saliba. He needs to shut off the social media praise and concentrate on getting back to his best.
@bananarama3624Ай бұрын
"Arsenal players have let the praise get to them and have become complacent especially Saliba. He needs to shut off the social media praise and concentrate on getting back to his best." How on earth do you know that Saliba has become complacent due to social media praise? Did you message him once asking that and he truthfully answered you back? You are spouting lies out of your arse placing your words and opinions onto someone else just so that it fits with your narrative. You have no idea how much he does or does not look at social media and considering the fact that he is literally a professional footballer he will spend more time and effort than you realize to concentrate on his game and performing week in and week out. Saying that someone else does 'x' when you fully know that you have no clue if they do or not is huge misinformation and (especially with social media) change how people perceive this person. For example if I went and replied to every comment that you ever made on youtube and said "Yo I remember you Best-game59, you are the guy that posted something on facebook where you juggled 10 tennis balls for 5 minutes straight". Now everyone that sees that message would assume you are great at juggling without knowing anything purely because of the false information I wrote in my comment. If you are genuinely an Arsenal fan, rather than demeaning the players of the club you dearly support, give them compliments, raise them up - give them a reason to get back to their best. Why should you bother try playing your best for a club when your own club supporters are just cutting you down and criticizing you. I would be putting 150% in if everyone was supporting me and helping me when I was down and not playing well - because not only do I deserve it but they do too.
@Best_game59Ай бұрын
@bananarama3624 Fair enough but it is true that once the praise gets to players, they become sloppy. This is a fact - that's why coaches like Pep always use it by praising the opposition team to lull them to slumber. You know there's something called constructive criticism, this is one. The players need to stop drinking their cool aid and focus. You saw the stats in this video, Arsenal were not even second best in winning the 50/50 duels, the highest duels won by an Arsenal player was 4th best in the game -what does that tell you? To me that is an indication that they were out worked and out run which to a side that has been the best pressing side in the last 2 seasons screams of complacency. Saliba- who has been rock in the last three seasons, seems to be beaten so easily remember the 2 goals Southampton scored came from Saliba's mistake. Even though the goal Isak scored was a wonder cross, there's arguments that the cross should have been stopped at source and Gabriel and Saliba- didn't track Isak well to allow him to head that ball. We all know that the defence can do better that's why they were the best defence last season conceding few goals but so far we have conceded more goals than games played - make your own conclusions. Sometimes praise alone cannot get you far, you need a reality check -to get back to your best. To me this should be a reality check similar to the one Arsenal had before they went to Dubai for the winter break.

A glorious bit of Longstaff love. He's a good player. He makes mistakes, and gets hammered for them. Crazy, as he's a local lad, who loves Newcastle. He gives the legs and the cover off the ball for other players to shine. A selfless player, who probably runs home after the game. He never stops. Geordie Gump.

I have to admit I wasn't a fan of Longstaff, his on the ball work is very uninspiring often seems to fail critical shots, passes, crosses, dribbles a lot. But it makes sense his off the ball work is where its at, he's a team player which is really important in a team game! Hard to tell that on the t.v screen, easier to see in person though, but I never get that chance.

Longstaff does the dirty work and it’s crucial to the way we play. I think the main frustration fans have with him is his tendency to give the ball away in dangerous positions or falling over with minimal contact. If he can eliminate those things, he’ll be a fantastic option for us going forward!

I watch Longstaff game after game playing football chess and like clockwork deconstruct the oppositions plans, only to read bellends and bawsacks, well that’s not true bellends and bawsacks are actually useful and the anti Longstaff brigade are anything but. But that does not stop them exhibiting their ‘moron status’ for all to see as they claim “he’s rubbish”, when what they are actually doing is showing the world of ytube just how ignorant of the game they really are.

Don’t get why people are trippin. St James Park has always been a difficult place to go, just like West Ham away. Probably the biggest part of the problem, is the entitlement that Arsenal were supposed to go there and roll them over. Was never going to happen. I’d expect other teams like Liverpool and City to drop points as well. It’s a long season.

We've already took points off city but Liverpool have a habit of serving us a proper gut punch (usually in stopage time). Bro I swear there were so many Arsenal fans bitching and moaning about Odegaard and how he should be replaced or how he's holding Arsenal back. Well, what now? That dude is the most important player on the pitch for Arsenal, with Saliba and Saka very close runner-ups. He's the reason all those complicated tactics and exchanges worked. The man played every game for over two seasons and he is justifiably knackered. He played half of last season with a hip injury and was still one of the players in contention for Player of the Year. Put Merino and Rice in a double pivot and Ode as the lone CAM and watch him cook once he's back.

We all saw that Longstaff played well on Saturday, as he did last Wednesday but to infer he won the game for us is just wrong. The whole team were excellent. He has poor games and he has good games. To make out he only ever plays well is as ludicrous as the so called haters who may overcriticise. Also the change in Willock back in for Joelinton in my opinion was more of a factor in our improvement in midfield. I'd like to see Bruno, Willock and Tonali play together before i believe that its Longstaff, who is going to guarantee us CL football next season
