My partner works in a care home, from what I heard day to day throughout the Pandemic, Government policy was actively encouraging contamination of care homes, elderly people being discharged from Hospitals untested straight into our care homes, where the most vulnerable were treated like sacrificial lambs.

I just googled how many care homes in the UK... the answer is 17,100... was that easy matt. ✌️ and no it's not an exact figure, but it's a good estimate. Because social care is mainly a private enterprise. You also say 'he' but you forget there is a whole civil service behind this position who had never sought out the number. Then again, what value would there of been in the past from a central government perspective. The elderly were thrown under the bus because he (representing the Government) panicked. They panicked, not because they feared Covid directly, but how their actions would look in the media. To them it was clearly both a political opportunity to advance their careers and a bear trap - the population were merely pawns in their marketing strategy. This is why they can’t admit they got it wrong, because it’s all about optics and career. Hancock clearly believes this enquiry is an opportunity to save his career, that if he can shine, if he can curry sympathy, then he can weasel his way back to the top. He has no shame, or empathy, he’s a psychopath - an over used word, but in Hancocks case it’s clearly the correct one.
