As a teen this song taught me how Jesus really loved me.Many of Don's songs brought Bible stories alive for me.I used to play his albums over &over.Now at 50,I still get excited about Jesus in this song. 'pastrychef'-I don't know the ans. but I do know that these that ministry to us with their gifts are just like us,only going to Heaven bec they've accepted Jesus' payment for their sins &many times needing forgiveness.We should pray for them &be thankfl our lives aren't on 'a big screen'.

Six weeks ago at about 8PM I blew out my aorta. Instead of taking me to the closest hospital, the ambulance took me about 5 minutes farther to a Level 1 trauma hospital that had a heart surgery team on call for the night. Even then, I was later told, I barely made it. What followed was an 11 hour surgery, 4.5 hours on a heart-lung machine, and my heart was stopped for 20 minutes. The lead heart surgeon (I had 3 cardiologists doing the surgery) told me I had the worst blow-out he had ever seen and that I had a 10% chance of making it. Spent 5 days in ICU. In my drug induced coma, this was one of the songs that God brought to my remembrance and I "sang" it over and over again, despite having a breathing tube down my throat. The other was Lamentations 3:22-23. That is the only thing I remember from those days. I'm alive because HE's alive and heaven's gates are open wide with all of God's blessings and His mercies are new every morning.

I was asked to do this at a local church I attended, I had to sing it a couple of times by myself prior to going on stage because I would break down crying during the first time singing it. I now have been given the chance to do this again at another church and I know that through the words of this song, hearts will be challenged like mine is every time I sing it. I first heard this song back in the late 70's when my 'born again' brother played it loud, in between his Zeppelin, Floyd, and Rush albums! Even though I am an agnostic, and not into religion, I was immediately floored by the majesty and sweeping emotion of the song. If I remember correctly, when Don first wrote this song it ended at the line "just melted into peace". But his wife Wendy told him "It's not done yet". And she helped him write the powerful closing chorus "He's Alive". That closing chorus pretty much makes the song. I did this song as a solo with our choir joining at the end, and it was difficult since it has so many words. But I got through it just fine with God's help.

My very 1st ever concert was saying Him in Casper WY. Ever since then, I can't ever get enough of good music and the inspiration behind the words in his songs!

In fact, the first concert ran over because everyone was into singing gospel songs. I was with him when his bass player/manager came over and said that the auditorium manager was concert about running close to 90 minutes late. Don just told him to get the checkbook and write a check for the additional rental time, he just could not stop the audience when they were praising God in song, so he would pay the diffrence.

I spoke with Don Francisco back in the early 80's after a concert he did in Columbus, Ohio. A more humble, unassuming man would be hard to find. He even was trying to figure out how to hook up my own reel-to-reel recorder to his sound system so we could record his testimonies during the concerts so we could share them with our prison ministry. Such men are rare!

I sang this song as a solo at Celebrate Recovery last year. Probably one of the most difficult solos I've ever done since there are so many verses. Okay. Listen. I was a student at Colorado State University from '02 to '04. My folks came to my graduation. We all went to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Loveland. I am really sorry I do not have the name of the guitarist who performed this magnificient, unimaginably powerful piece, but let me tell you. I LOVE this and other "story" songs which Don has written from the Biblical accounts! My favorite is probably "You're Beautiful To Me". If you haven't heard it, it's well worth your time to listen. On another note, I am very sad to hear that Don has fallen for liberal teachings, such as: 1) The Scriptures are not inerrant (if they contain mistakes, how would one know which of Jesus' teachings we can pick & choose were true or false?), 2) There is no Hell, and 3) Divorce is okay. I pray that God re-opens his (and his wife's) eyes!
