Carter got more of his policy proposals through Congress than Kennedy, Reagan, Bush Sr., Bush Jr., and Obama. The only president since Eisenhower with a better batting average in the Congress was Johnson.

juan alot of the stimulus money went to the banks and bank ceos (the bourgeois) despite them being the cause of the recession in the first place. its argued that it was necessary to save the economy but the bank ceos famously gave themselves bonuses and were not put in jail for their key role in causing the recession. this illustrates a common thread within american politics in where the rich get taken care of by the government, while the poor gets the consequences of the rich

Without big government, you either don't need much resources to get through regulations or pay the high taxes, or startup capital is easier to come by.

And we have made sure of this by making it so that everyone an afford a world class education and has the freedom to pursue (almost) whatever career path they choose. Of course it will always be easier for those born rich, that is until you enforce enough material equality that the American Dream becomes either mandatory or absolutely impossible. Material equality is not the point of America or the exceptionalism of the west, it is legal equality. The ocean of regulations favored by today's Democratic Party ensures that there will not be legal equality because the rich can afford to weave through them, the poor cannot.

Obamacare actually did decrease the number of people uninsured in the US, as it had been intended to do. The national debt about doubled under Obama, rather than tripled as you had suggested. Let’s not forget that, under Reagan, the national debt actually did triple. I don’t really blame him though. Just like Obama, he was dealing with the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression up to then. It’s almost like recessions make it difficult for the President to control the deficit.
