Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed watching Sonix during this top 8. He was playing SUPER aggressive, and that's what I wish Sonic was in this game. Also, I like that Tilde placed 3rd, as someone who's currently maining Falco at the moment. Im glad I got to watch the top 8 before I said anything negative about Sonix. He really deserved the win here, and I'll respect the Gameplay.

I would say he was more aggressive than he usually is, but he still had a balance of staying back because he was still doing a lot of spin dashes. I think the reason we feel this way is because the top 8 opponents were using fast characters too, to a certain extent, so they could keep up. I think that's why his playstyle was perhaps a bit more aggressive.

Huge props to Atreus for making it to top 8 and giving us some tournament palutena play, but after watching Nairo COOK with palu for years, seeing Atreus drop stuff that Nairo hits every time is strange. Like dtilt 2frame to backair, dair spikes on falco's recovery.

For anyone wondering, falco has kill confirms all the way to like 160. Up tilt bair works on palu until like 110, dair bair should work until 140 in addition to up tilt up air, and after that side b up air/dair up air will work even at 160

With the exception of Sonic (and in some peoples opinions Kazuya), this top 8 had a bunch of sick ass characters. Palu, Fox, Cloud, Falco... this is the top 8s I like to see as a spectator.

True, i gotta give it to Sonix this tournament. In several of the matchups like Rob and Aegis, it seems like he's super comfortable fighting those characters and was going ham. its just the memories of 45 minute best of 5 sets from him that leave a bad taste in my mouth sometimes.

@@saam7737 I kinda hate the people hating on Kazuya and in turn Riddles. I don't care how much you hate Kazuya. Riddles got top 8 at TWO tournaments at the same time, he fought Zomba immediately after fighting Dee Jay in SF6, that's impressive.

@@zackdanh9352 Oh i completely agree, i don't hate on Kazuya at all, which is why I said in some peoples opinions. Im a huge Riddles fan, he's in my top 3 favorite players to watch. He definitely is a matchup check, but he gets bodied by zoners, his reflector is a complete meme, and the Kazuya player has to be really good with their movement in order to get in.

Sonix is a great player, that's fact. Still I think Sonic is the best character in this game if not Steve, even top players have to counterpick Sonic with aegis, spargo can't use his best character, mkleo has to use his worst character, meanwhile Sonic is very capable in every matchup, I think Sonic as a character makes for very boring tournament interactions, if you play a slow character you'll get camped

Yeah, pretty sure Cloud's recovery is more exploitable than Aegis's recovery.

@@elcomp2178 Usually Aegis's recovery is definitively worse, but maybe not in this specific matchup. But the more important part is that Mythra can keep up with Sonic in the neutral.
