i think there is more to the situation than whats been said... it may just be a group but i wouldn't want someone in a group that was causing issues with other people upsetting them,making them feel uncomfortable etc carmie and all the others know each other and are a group of friends so it makes sense that they get rid, kick him out, uninvite him whatever you want to call it ... if he's not getting a long with other people within the group... it was probably a tough decision for carmie but its a case of lose a whole group of friends because they don't want to hang out with Jacob for whatever reason or keep the group plus Jacob but separately...
