Heppell needs to retire and Wright needs to take the next few weeks and the pre-season to find some sort of form. The back 6 need to work out how to function with and without Ridley in the team because that was nearly Red Dog's best game this year, which is saying something. I don't think Brad has the team settled they way he wants it yet.

Agree, not sure about Bryan tho he looked very slow, physically small and unfit. Roberts was great and think Redman needs to be given his line-breaking role back. Looks like one of the games best when hes allowed to rebound and get up the ground

@@andyourself I thought he held his own for most of the game. Subbing him was the right option tho as he was getting in the way when we needed to go fast. Like him more as 2nd Ruck than Wright or Goldstein at this point. If we do this right and with a bit of luck we have some good young players like Durham and Caldwell who can develop together to become something formidable. If Draper can settle down a bit and steady his disposal and Bryan can get bigger and keep improving we might finally have a world class midfield.

I cannot stand the way we play - we chip it around and first instinct is to always ship it out wide. Our key forwards dont lead up hard nor do we kick to their advantage. Only reason we won in the end was because we changed tactics and went direct and our forwards led hard and we put it to their advantage. Wright, Caddy and Jones can all play in the same team if we play like we should

Honestly not to take away from the Don’s but I feel that is more on Freo and says a bit more about them, this isn’t the first time this season they’ve done this, lost a fair few games they really should have won. Reckon they are lacking mentally more at the moment. Young team though so understandable, but yeah.

After watching the game yesterday i think essendon need some more speed in their midfield . Merrit and Parish are great players but they have no chasing speed and players just seem to jog away from them.

@@skinnydogkew Ridley has taken much of Redman's role when he's been playing while Martin took the distributor role leaving him a bit at sea manning a player. He's better when he can run and carry. Your right, we won despite our backline. Lavurde was terrible, guy tries his guts out but he makes stupid mistakes and isn't good enough. Makay looks like a guy playing with no confidence. McGath is possibly the single most frustrating Bomber of all time, his best and worst are miles apart and often on show in the same game. Cox got caught out against Jackson a few times, I don't know where you play him to be honest.

Was always going to happen, they need to figure out delivery into the forward line and capitalising on forward 50 entries. In almost every game they win on paper(clearances, 50 entries, contested possessions, marks) but get shown up on scoreboard
