Two weeks ago, Jesus Olivares lifted (RAW) the most amount of weight any human has, ever. Tested or untested. Under the strictest rules. I sat down with Jesus to get the backstory, find out more about him and learn what it is like to be a humongous hunk. Give him a follow: instagram.com/mega.gojira

I saw him at Sheffield's live record. Was there to support French powerlifters mainly in light categories and women. And twas fantastic ! I never met this man but when I saw him, I looked ad this huy as serious opponent but I didn't expected so much, especially the squat ! And he very specialized in this movement, more than 30kg between squat and dead in this side (squat being over dead) is kinda rare at this point. What Mr. Olivares... uh so impressive it is. In France we have MMA fighter called Baki... And so Jesus is the latino Mr. Olivia in "Baki the Grappler" manga haha. Greeaaaat job !

This generation of powerlifters who are all starting the OJ young AF and peaking at 20-24 will be crippled by injuries before they are 30 and most of them have probably peaked unless they up the dosage and/or gain more weight ( possible for a SHW but guy is already 400lbs on a 6 ft frame so I doubt he goes much higher )

For people talking about his speediness, thinkin' da it would be able to lift 20 more kilos. I don't think so. The speed isn't a reliable feature to look at at heavy weights. Fore sure, the lighter barbell it is, the faster the move will be. But it depends more on your natural explosivity tendency then what is your weakness in the movement that is to say the famous sticking point. His one seems to be quite high, depending on the glutes and erectors more than adductors or quads. What would induce his difference between squat and deadlift in favour of the first one. (Sorry for bad English, I ain't a native)

No he is not. He's "just" the strongest powerlifter atm. He is nowhere near as strong as freaks like prime Kaz (banned from competing for being too strong, let that sink in) , Big Z, or Thor. Eddie was considerably stronger, and could probably have posted an even higher total if he tried too. Many human have been stronger than him some of them just compete in different sports ( mostly strongman ) and if you think Jesus is the strongest ever then you have no sports culture at all. I'd add a number of examples : weightlifting SHW ( from soviet union times mostly, + Lasha and a few more ), shot putters like Udo Beyer, some SHW wrestlers that would ragdoll him, a good deal of NFL linemen 350+lbs freaks etc in the conversation Saying he is the strongest ever is the same BS gospel as when Brian Siders was supposedly the strongest while IPF SHW champ and then couldn't even do 1 rep with the 366lbs Apollon Axle when invited to Arnold Strongman in 2006. He seems to be a nice dude though, and is definitely up there in the ultra elite strengthwise, so I won't take away from his accomplishments, and wish him the best for the future.

@gladgt6686 Жыл бұрын
@The West Face Of Dhaulagiri powerlifting is about power not strenght that's why is called powerlifting, strenght means endurance both mentally and physically which powerlifting doesn't have. Power is part of strenght but that's it not vice versa. Look at Hafthor how well he's doing in powerlifting. Look at Brian Shaw bench. I myself am both a decent powerlifter and strongman. Also my friend which is the strongest in my country is number one in powerlifting too
@thewestfaceofdhaulagiri6697 Жыл бұрын
@@gladgt6686 "strenght means endurance both mentally" I think you probably want to use a different word than endurance. I think when most people think of endurance they think of sports where there is movement for much longer periods of time like Marathons. But I think I get what you're saying regardless. I've always used thought as power as being a subset of strength. One thing about powerlifting is that, unlike strongman, it's only very minimally concerned with technique, mobility and other issues that aren't really about strength/power. So, some could say that powerlifting is a purer form of power and/or strength.
@gladgt6686 Жыл бұрын
@@thewestfaceofdhaulagiri6697 Powerlifting is too basic if you ask me and its easier to understand if you think about it from a scientifically perspective.
