As an equipment operator from small to large, common since is key. If you are a fly by the seat of your pants type of person, keep off my equipment. A real operator is a smooth operator. Any other is a driver.

common sense is the key, but even a "real operator" has to learn my friend...I'm sure you'd agree
@karlrovey

There is a bit of a learning curve for any equipment. You have to get used to the sensitivity of the controls. The mechanical lever throttles on older tractors are easy enough to run smoothly. The hydrostatic drive tractors are a bit different. Those can be unbelievably sensitive.

@@StoneyRidgeFarmerNot everyone will be an operator. It does take a bit of talent and want to. I started when I was a little boy cutting grass for extra money. My mama bought me a lawn mower, gas can and a quart of oil to go with my mower purchased from the A&P food store. I am on my way. When I became a young man I applied for a job building a huge lake near my house. With NO experience, I was put on the hood of a CAT 631 earth mover with a D-9 CAT pushing me to load. That was an awesome machine, huge and would haul over 80,000 pounds of earth with the sides built up. Later I learned to operate a bulldozer. State with a 305 Case and on up to the big boys. My favorite overall was the Allis Chalmers Dozer. Came from the 70's but one nice machine. Later while in construction of many buildings including Nuclear Power near my house in Irmo SC I was introduced to crane operating. I has the oportunity to run a Manitowoc 4100 Vicon. The crane had 300 feet of main boom and 40 feet of jib. I retired about ten year ago after 45 years in the construction business. Today, I miss those days of equipment operating. When I see someone on a job site dogging a machine, I want to snatch their ass off and make them walk home. I also had one of the first NCCCO operators license. Yes, I know a little about equipment.

This was a fun collab to watch. I think the small articulated loader market should be one that the larger companies need to look in to if they aren't in already. Makes me curious what he'd think of the Bobcat competitor to those Cast Loaders. Best of luck on the discussions with your finance committee in hopes you get one.

thats great and all infact i watch dirt monkey, im in minnesota, so i already knew about them. but for the home jobber, honestly a simple compact tractor is all you need to not tear up turf and load a dump truck. just takes longer at half the up front cost. love the videos, keep it up. i will say the boom is a cool plus. but will it last as long as a iseki at home like 4 decades worked hard weekly (idk how long it will last, still haven't worn it out yet, and its a hydrostatic drive ) or a bobcat worked hard daily for a decade or 2? idk. they look cool, but cool usually costs big dollars. not 30k like a small tractor or 60k like a skid loader. both at the low end. my tractor has no cab, not heat, no ac. but starts at 0F and doesn't complain 3 cylinder diesle.

I think it depends on the application, for what I’m doing right now which is clearing hedgerows and leveling ground mostly in the winter when it’s wetter, tracks are far superior, a wheeled loader would just get stuck too often! And yes these machines would not tear up the turf but when the ground gets soft tracks would not compact the ground as much, my machines ground psi is about the same as me walking.
@Treeplanter73

@@jlkkauffman7942 agreed it depends, but loaders have far superior visibility and far better tire wear.

Articulated loaders are all a bit "tippy". The way the geometry changes when you turn sharply makes them all more unstable than conventional tractors or skid loaders. And the warning about the load and cabin turning together is important to keep in mind if you are used to a loader where the cabin is located on the back so you can see the way the load swings out to the side when turning. I can't say anything about the quality or usage of this particular brand. I can just talk about articulating loaders in general. I like them, but there are disadvantages. You just have to be aware of them.
