I am a Liverpool fan, and I would be happy for Trent if he goes. What he has given the club, he will always be a legend, in my eyes. Also, the fact he stated before that he wants to be captain when Virgil leaves, then I think he knows something we don't. Maybe he knows Virgil isn't going anywhere soon, and therefore, he isn't getting the captaincy in the near future. Either that, or he has been told he wont get the captaincy if Virgil leaves....

All those mentioning Steven Gerald should remember that Gerald stayed because he wanted to help LFC win the premier league and if he had left he would have always felt guilty that he didn’t (even though he ended up not winning it, bless his heart). Trent however has helped LFC win the premier league (hopefully twice) so as far as I am concerned he should go explore other adventures. Fans who are saying Trent is not loyal should remember it’s his career like they have theirs and if they got a job offer paying them more than what they are currently earning they too will be off with no apologies. In fact some people cite wanting a new experience as reasons for changing jobs so why should Trent not want a new experience.

For Trent the issue is, he’s a home grown player that has ran his contract down and will go on a free. That’s the main issue here. He’s worth £100m for example and if he wanted to go, the majority would accept it and wish him well as both the player and club win. But if he goes, the club get £0 and it’s a very selfish action from a home grown player. For the foreign lads, you can’t really moan too much as they have no loyalty to the club, area, community etc
