As someone who has 10+ years experience with shaolin kungfu training, wushu judging and international-level competitions, I have quite a bit to say about this video. I would strongly recommend finding kungfu teacher first (there are some really good ones in Netherlands) and then trying these skills. For example the technique for ma bu (horse stance) was not executed too well. I really appreciated that you gave kungfu a try. For your own safety, if you plan to continue with kungfu skills, please get a supervision from well-trained professional❤️

The thing is, right now, main stream Kongfu are, essentially, 江湖把戏, what can approximately be translated as "party tricks". As proven in this video, standing on stick is a trick. And splitting bricks has also been proven to be easy with Physics. Sure a lot of them requires good muscle and cardio training, but it's nothing that special or useful. Most main stream Kongfu of China stem from the leader of early 中华民国,wanting to gather "the wisdom and skills of martial arts hidden in the public". A lot of people who claimed to be "hidden mastery kong fu fighters" came to the Capital for the reward money and fame, but most were ultimately proven to be fake. The leader was very disappointed, and essentially dropped the "traditional Chinese Kongfu hype" and wanted to develop a modern Chinese fighting style. The idea even lasted to the Current People's Republic of China. 散打and中国跤are the two most prominent results that were actually combat viable. The prior is similar to Kickboxing, the latter is similar to wrestling. But in the recent couple of decade, due to the government's propaganda of 民族自信 or "cultural confidence", 散打and中国跤 are punished and removed from mainstream media because they were developed with "western styles/science". And more performance focused 传统武术 is now treated as one of the 国粹, "national (culture) treasure". Kongfu never had "hundreds of years of history". It was a hoax developed in the early 1900's. It has barely any combat viability versus other established form of combat style. Obviously someone practice Wushu can still fight a normal person, just from working out. But it's still performance over combat. That's why some critics in China call it 舞术 rather than 武术。少林shaolin itself is now more of a tourist attraction rather than an actual temple. As for oversea kong fu hypes, it's mostly from Kong Fu movies, made by great artist Bruce Lee and Jackie Chen. But that's what they are, artists and performers. The kong fu you see in movies that allows someone to fight 100 men at the same time is Pure PURE fiction. Most of the information I gathered are explained by this KZbin Channel: www.youtube.com/@xunshuo It is a Chinese YT channel. If you understand the language and want to know more, I would recommend checking it out. Explanation of how to split bricks by hand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sF66YZ2ie56cbac also in Chinese.

2:51 I know I'm just a Karate student but let me give you some advice: I tried using the side of my hand 'til it was black and blue to break the wooden block during my belt test. Obviously, they stopped me, but when I tried again 6 days later, I did a palm strike on a piece of wood just like the one I couldn't break. I broke it and, after about a year and 4 months from when I joined, became an orange belt (second lowest belt in my studio, but passed that test). I much suggest a palm strike. Another piece of advice from observing my black belt bestie who wins awards for breaking in competition, try a few times without hitting it to establish aim, then come in with the blow.

I think for going down the stairs on all four the monks had their core and shoulders quite low and therefor their body stretched longer and over more steps. This also helps with the balancing and the danger of falling down head first is reduced. You had your legs and arms almost as in a pike push up position

green bamboo would have been your best bet. maybe smaller pieces wrapped together if you need more bend you could even get more torque at the bottom for your planting foot and more stiff at the top for your balance foot if you do this. its used for this sort of thing because its about as hard as steel when green and very bendy. you should be able to get a bend you can counterbalance ( so its dependent on weight and preference of the person) on you should be able to get it at least once for a good 5-10 seconds if spend enough time on it.

For the bricks on your hand to strike though, you need to sink into it (think squat) and strike through to the ground. You want your whole body to be connected. Think of it like you're holding a hammer and striking the ground with it as hard as you can. The brick just happens to be there but should not change your form. Also if you "chop" strike. as you connect turn your thumb in and really flex the muscle.

Great video! One of the biggest fears when breaking... anything really... is the fear of hurting yourself and not being able to break said thing. A lot of it is mental roadblock. Instead of thinking of breaking the thing, think of going past the thing and that object is in your way. This also takes time and a lot of practice to break something without muscling it. Hopefully this helps a bit!

I think you are not counterbalancing the stick enough, you must shift you bodyweight to the oposite side that the stick Is falling and put your weight into the ballpoint So that you are balancing. Also i guess Its kinda counterprofuctive to put your hand on top of the stick cause you can't lean enough

Yesterday after a long 8 month journey I finnaly achieved my goal of doing 100 clean push ups in a row and the only thing I can say is I FAILED! Many Many MANY times but either way I kept working harder, training more consistently, try more and more execercises and get a better phisique along the way, and it was awsome. In conclusion, life is a nice way uphill untill you try to reach your goals, but everytime you fail to climb through them, you learn something new and valuable, so we cannot expect ourselves to be perfect everytime, failure is a natural process we need to go through to progress so remember guys its always better to try doing something new, and achieve it after a week, a month, 8 months or even years than remaining static and unfufilling for the rest of our lives and give up... Also I wanna thank you guys for your videos, Stan and Arjen, they surely give me the motivation I need to become a better person and start new journeys like this one P.S: I also broke my Highschool record in the process and I will upload a video on it soon in a channel I have with two friends of mine so if you want to check it out it will come out this month on JQR Productions.
