Yes, that's how it works there. You can bathe together with someone you're close with, generally the same gender. There are public baths too. Mixed baths do exist but those aren't popular nowadays for obvious reasons. The nuance is that you are very close to someone that you're not ashamed of bathing together.

I've been living in Japan for over 15 years. I'm totally used to seeing all of my friends (and strangers) completely naked at hot springs, the gym locker room, etc. Key point is that no one is looking/staring. Keep eyes up, and everything is normal. lol.

Hori's dad is awesome because superficially he seems to be always getting in the way and making things awkward, but he's actually always forcing both of them to progress their relationship faster than their wishy-washy selves would've otherwise done it. Hori basically admitted to being Miyamura's GF after her whole pointless drama about being jealous but not wanting to address that he'd confessed he loved her because she supposedly wanted things to stay the same, but Kyosuke barges in and throws them off and asks point blank if they're dating, and since she likes to challenge him she immediately confirms it thinking he'd have some complaint about it not realizing that he seems to like Miyamura more than she likes Miyamura herself. Had Kyosuke not shown up, who knows how long they would've taken to make their relationship official.

@@HaydrogenBomb Facts. It was my ex's parents that finally made it awkward enough for us to start dating. I would spend DAYS at hers and we were "just friends" that slept in the same bed every time I would stay over. Her family finally just flat out asked one day if we were dating because they never really saw us being lovey-dovey (as budding relationships tend to do). At that point we just said F**CK it were dating now.

yea this show really knows how to write a bunch of likable characters. all the side characters has relatable&believable personalities. even the pink girl i came to adore because of a chapter centered with her and sengoku(red hair president guy) you should check the manga out in your free time hehe. its such a stress free read

2:04 Taking baths together can happen in Japan, but it is more typically young kids with one of their parents. Japan have lots of public baths some of them even being mixed so "bathing together" is not culturally weird to a Japanese, it's just weird to do that at home with someone you just got to know. Then again Kyousuke seems to like sweeping everyone to his own pace.
