This reminds me of something my dad taught me: I wanted to replace the plastic screen of my gameboy and got a replacement. Then I‘d sit down put my tools together when he asked me what I was doing. I said, I need to open it to replace the plastic screen. He just had a look, took a piece of sharp plastic and popped it out right away. Then he told me: always watch out for the easiest way- there was no need to open it up completely and I probably would have broke something while doing that- just like cameron did as you showed, there was actually no need to remove the battery for fixing the actual failure with the button 😊

I did wonder this too. It looked like there was a good amount of copper for the ground and positive under the conformal coating to be able to scrape off and get a good solder joint but maybe it would be too far from the pins on the connector. It's a brilliant repair job nonetheless and looks beyond my skill but I'd still be concerned about the amount of current going through those thin wires

I have a question. I own all of the physical resident evil(except for umbrella corps) games on ps4, dead rising 1 and 2, and the last of us remaster. I was playing my games back-to-back. When i got to re3 remake, my ps4 pro wasn't reading the disc followed by a rumbling noise. It had read all the other discs just fine. My ps4 is a model cuh-7215b. The disc drive had recently been replaced near the beginning of the year. My brother, who had installed the new disc drive is convinced there's nothing wrong with the part. I came here because you're reliable when it comes to issues with the ps4. Might there be an unforseen problem i hadn't yet considered or is the game in question just dead? Now it says that resident evil 3 remake is corrupted data.

I have to wonder how reliable that will be. Obviously normal use is fine, but if anyone opens it up, it's not going to be as strong. I wish all connectors were through hole like HDMI ports are. They are so much stronger

My only worry is from looking at the thickness of the original traces will that trace repair wire be able to handle the amps from the battery during extended use.

Nice. But in my opinion you should first rebuild traces, then protect it with solder mask and solder the battery connection. But hey, it’s working in the end :-)

He should’ve prepped that Fetzer valve with some gauze pads and some three in one household oil, preferably Prestone. No, make that Quicker State.
