It's really not his fault. You can see that when he drops into a defensive stance, he cant explode out of it at all to even contest the shot. I have worked with multiple athletes with this problem. It's a strength issue for sure, but at this point its more a neurological dependency on his knees themselves to create extension.. which likely hurts him enough to not want to do it. You can see he lacks a great deal of hip and knee/leg stability and constantly is checking his feet like he can't find traction. He also seems to feel his knees a great deal constantly, and easily tweaks things. Basically his brain doesn't fully trust his body and you see that hesitancy reflected in his inconsistent athleticism. I am a neuro programming specialist who specializes in reprogramming muscular activation, just my two cents on the issue. He has a ridiculous amount of natural athleticism, but he is constantly almost going too fast/jumping too high for his own body to stabilize the movement. That makes him want to slow down unconsciously, which leads to what you see. Honestly I hope he sees this comment. You can work out in the gym for years with the best trainers and never ever activate the right muscle in the right sequence, because of unconscious loading patterns set over time. Think when you do planks but you always feel your low back in the plank no matter what. That's a sequencing problem. Injuries and pain further complicate the process in regards to what the brain trusts. Usually athletes like him have various low back tension, hamstring tightness, quad under activation (hard to feel the quads, instead feel the knees when loading), glute weakness, and are prone to being shoulder/arm dominant in their upper body and core. It's extremely common, but it is absolutely something that be programmed. Really enjoy this content Friga, and I hate seeing athletes that love the game being restricted from their full potential.

@@furrypossum1498 Thanks. Not so much on the losing weight/smoking cigs (unless we want to discuss addiction and the limbic/animal brain) but definitely on the topic of "gaining" muscle. Muscle will only activate as far as the brain can activate it (and the sequence can be wrong as well) As in if the brain can't "see" it, it won't fire it or activate it very well. This is super common with surgery/trauma etc all over the body. AKA you have abdominal surgery and the area forever after that is very hard to feel when doing core work. So it can be near impossible to gain muscle mass in certain areas or fix imbalances because you never feel that muscle "load" as something else is always compensating for it. That becomes a neuro pattern over time and people get stuck in a loop of injury and dysfunction. Have to reprogram it.

I can't remember who K played in his last 1 v 1 match, but he lost a game and kind of gave up, didn't contest, and lost the series. To see him down 0-4 and come back and get 5 straight buckets was amazing. He stayed locked him, even after missing a dunk which can really get in your head sometimes. He kept fighting and kept hitting shots. I think after that game he deserves the respect, he has becoming a good shooter and with his length that makes him a very dangerous person.
