edit: 3:40 it was literally this lmao I remember one time in probably Soul Silver I was running back to the poke-centre because all except 1 of my guys had fainted, and I ran into a trainer with porygon. All I had was a HM slave or something and the porygon was only using protect and recover, while I had to sit there for probably 30 full minutes spamming moves that had 15-25pp and just dealing no damage and when I did deal damage it would full heal, and I was just forced to spam moves until I struggled to death, At the time I had never run into any softlock like that and I just remember it being excruciating being able to do literally nothing, but now it's very funny to think I was just softlocked for half an hour by AI that was probably only using heal moves because the damage moves weren't effective.

I always took your starter as choosing the difficulty of the game. Bulbasaur would be easy. Good against the first 2 gyms. Squirtle would me normal. Good against the first gym. And Charmander would be hard. Not good against anything until Erika.
@BaconNuke2 жыл бұрын
The newer games tho have lessened on if your starter is the difficulty imo since they started making you able to have so many options early on, for example.. Sw/Sh has like 4 routes or whatever PLUS the wild area BEFORE the first gym.. and that doesn't even count the DLC.. so like legit you could have a fire-water-grass core before Milo and just be pretty alright, and that still allows 3 other mons of varying types..

@@BaconNuke tbf I haven't played much past crystal. My post was only meant for 1st generation games and is only loose at best. You can always just get a butterfree and speed through. @@r.mar.673 Chikorita is still the worst because weak to flying (1st gym) and bug (2nd gym) and just overall is kind of meh, the other two are better, with I think Cyndaquill being best since not only bug but later gyms are like steel and ice, both weak to fire
