A good horseman can read a horse and adjust to what the horse is telling him without adding their own bias. The life of the horse depends on the trainers ability to do this.

When I lived in Farnley Nv, there was a herd of Mustsngs that would come and visit my horses. The Mustangs were always checking the ground, they would even stump the ground and chase the praie dogs out of their towns. Showing the Mustangs where the whole were. He is a really good looking Mustang

I appreciate the courtesy you give some of the younger or in this case “wilder” horses to just be an animal. There’s an art to letting them be an animal and be themselves which will ultimately build their confidence as opposed to breaking them down for every time the mis-step. As humans we tend to think everything should conform to how we see it and it’s just rarely the case in nature. I wouldn’t expect a kindergartener to act like a 5th grader.

Watching Tim with Kiowa (and knowing Kiowas personality and quirks ) in this video, Tim absolutely nailed Kiowas personality and how best to work with him. He allowed Kiowa to be himself and build on that.

Nice Mustang! Very pretty face and nice eyes.....seems pretty smart about things. Not too spooky....just aware. He is not really comfortable with the saddling, so maybe he did not get a lot of work done over the training time. It's good that he is giving you subtle signs so you can find where he needs the most help! Yep...he gave you a good sign under saddle!
@ltningstrike

@donnac.1609 He had 3 months off but he seems to have remembered a majority of what he’s been taught. After all his groundwork was done professionally he was ready to go under saddle but trainer was having health problems and could do his first rides, and i wasn’t confident enough to get his first rides myself soI had someone get on him who was a little too rough with his hands and legs. He may have remembered what happened those first 4 rides. He never bucked and was tolerant but it wasn’t the best experience for him. I wanted what was best for Kiowa and that was to go to another professional who could make those first rides good experiences and knows what he’s doing. I like everything about Tims style. I’ve watched him for years in the reining world (and win)and through his videos. He knows his stuff and I’m confident he will find what Kiowa will be good at.

Please pull that saddle pad up off his Withers into the gullet of the saddle. This should be done for all horses not just this one I see many trainers that don't do that the pad needs to be pulled up off his Withers into the gullet on the saddle to help free up his shoulders

If Kiowa was uncomfortable, he would most certainly let you know. He’s the most honest horse I’ve ever owned. In addition, there was no weight on his back therefore, there’s no need to provide wither space. Im pretty sure Tim knows what he’s doing and I trust him. And since I’m the owner, it is solely me that should be concerned if there were cause, which there is none.

I wonder if BLM horses are more anxious because they’re used to living in bands with other horses. Maybe they need to socialize more with other horses than the ones that are born domesticated. And you’re right Tim young people so take time for granted. It dawns on all of us not to if we get to live long enough. 😂

You need to trim mane and shortened up the tail...... When a mustang is in the wild, the mane and tail are least likely to show care.... Communication with leads, draw reins and other must be more direct.....Mane should be very short.....

@@timandersonhorsetraining well, maybe you should start.....Do you understand communication with tack??? A mustang is very sensitive to human touch....... Verbal, body language, smell, grooming.....Cut the mane, as suggested, to increase communication with the horse... Cutting the tail of this wild mustang after purchase is required.... If you have problems maintaining clean, trimmed tail and/or can not provide this horse a fresh start after many months on the range, well then you should not own one.......Best of Luck ...
