@@frostyze3 Old ones are inductive while new ones tend to be cameras. The inductive ones pick up metal, especially steel, but aren't always sensitive enough to pick up small, aluminum bikes. All you have to do is flick the starter though. With cameras, you mainly need to be in the right location and they may have a minimum number of pixels that have to be different. They're a bit more complicated and I'm not sure exactly how they get set up.

So in some states they have a law about dead red's, which allows a rider to run through a red light that hasn't changed for them once it's safe to do so. You still have to stop I wanna make that clear. But with the bikes not weighing enough to change the light this is safe to proceed instead of sitting their all day. My bike gets hot after sitting to long since its air cooled. So I'm glad its legal in my state.

It’s not a weight sensor. It’s called and inductance loop. Basically it uses electromagnetism to notice a drop in voltage because a near field that will trigger the light to change. The trick is to get on the intersection of the loop and the line going to it.

for those who are unaware, traffic lights don’t use weight sensors & havent since around early 2000s. they mostly use a “loop” which is a singular wire that is put into the asphalt & starts at the cabinet on the corner & loops back into the cabinet after it’s ran thru the road. this wire has a current running thru it that changes once it detects the metal in your car, hence why motorcycles sometimes have issues changing a light due to far less metal. some lights use motion sensors & some are solely operated on a timer, but majority rely on these loops. yes i’m a traffic light technician. yes i have installed these loops.

I think about my experiences sliding off the back of a bike (rider didn’t warn me to hold on tighter b/c he full throttled out of nowhere) - how my jeans were ripped through to bloodied knees, my riding jacket slid up and got severe road rash that scabbed and made me realize how much core is used on a daily basis 🤡 my hands shredded and scarred from no gloves, the helmet the guy made me wear (it had coms in it while mine didn’t) was too big and hit my lip, causing me to need stitches. I think back and how disappointed I was in my younger self. We were going maybe 40-50 mph in that few seconds of speed-up. That was a really minor incident as well! I think to when I slid at the track last year in full gear and besides a few stars and a bit dizzy from rolling, I was completely fine. If I wore my gear in the incident from college, I’d have been 100%, gotten up with a laugh and jumped back on with my friend; but I was young and dumb. Live and learn, or die finding out

I know a guy who lost a leg mostly because he wasn't wearing proper gear.. His leg got completely torn up by the asphalt to the point where there were no saving it. PLEASE don't drive around dressed like this! It's for your own safety, not to make you look stupid or something. And if you think it's to warm to wear or something like that, then don't ride at all.

If you fall and skid across the ground without it, you will not only get horrible scrapes, but you will also get bad burns from the asphalt.. Like actual burns that will likely have to be treated at a burn unit, because that's what that kind of friction does to you.. I get that it gets warm as fuck in the leathers, and that's partly why I don't ride, but they are deemed as safety gear for a reason. Yeah, riding dressed like this can look cool and whatever, but all it takes is a second and you will gravely regret it, like my family friend did. He's lucky to even be alive after that. It's just so incredibly stupid and unnecessary..
