He is nothing special. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when they brought Fields in. But if you can't go down to Miami and beat those mediocre QB's, you apparently just don't have that elite skill set. What else can you say? Other QB's across the country have done more with less financial resources at the high school. At BG, he was a good QB with an elite football program. Most high schools don't have those resources and the best players moving in from other places. When he got to college where the talent level is relatively equal, he didn't stand out.

Cardale Jones was better EVERY PRACTICE AND EVERY GAME than either Braxton Miller or JT Barrett => but was relegated to 3rd string => TWO INJURIES LATER +> and C Jones was starting => he won a NATTY and a B10CG MVP => SOMETHING MILLER AND BARRETT NEVER COULD DO => He also went 8 - 0 the next year and was BENCHED -> TWICE. JTB-IV came in and promptly LOST (a game C Jones would have easily won) This IS NOT TO SAY Tate Martell is a deserving QB => He and all the other running QB's that are just WR's/RB's/HB's/TE's/DB's playing qb in disguise would NEVER TAKE A SINGLE SNAP in my universe ==> but the point is => if YOU BELIEVE THERE's a level playing field and open competition at QB => you are NAIVE, DECIEVED and DELUDED. He was/is a good athlete with poor defense reading and coverage recognition skills. In the 2018 OSU-Michigan game, Martell was given a series inside UM's 5 yard line. They ran the read option 3 times, he made the wrong decision all three times leading to a Buckeye FG rather than what should have been yet another TD as OSU ran and threw all over Michigan that day 62-39. I believe that series was enough for Ryan Day to say no thanks to Martell as Meyer retired and moved to a position in the AD's office at OSU. Enter Justin Fields and the rest was history.

ever since i saw him on qb1 i knew he wasnt gonna pan out it college hes all about himself and he lacks the arm talent to back himself up. To many of his throws are johnny manziel like where he is lofting it in the direction of his recievers and they are the ones making the plays. You take a 14 year old athlete, tell him how great he is, heap loads of praise on him and go so far as to offer a scholarship BEFORE he's even in high school and you're surprised that he tanks? You've taken away any incentive for the kid to try and be even better, to try and elevate his game.
