Great video! Started this series via audio book a few weeks ago and just started book 5. I think the magic system is brilliantly explained, even though Jason often explains how things work by saying "because magic" to other cast members I think as a reader (listener) you can really understand how and why the magic works which is great.

@@connorbampton1919 completely agree! Love the first arc with the expansion of the system, and the third arc (that you are in) has some cool features with the limitations placed. You will like the third arc I bet. I hope to do arc discussion videos at some point!

@@larryivymusic super fun book! Have you read more of the series or just the first one?!
@r0kus2 күн бұрын
Thank you for covering this series. I've read most of the series and enjoyed it a lot. One minor correction -- while HWFWM is both litRPG and an isekai, they are not the same thing. Isekai is a Japanese word meaning "other world". Stories that use the concept involve a character from one world ending up in another. Classic examples from English literature are _Alice in Wonderland_ and _A Connectocut Yankee in King Arthur's Court._ Note that neither is litRPG. That classification is pretty much as you described, a story built around role playing game mechanics. Neither needs to include the other.
@thesandersreview2 күн бұрын
@@r0kus got it! Thank you for the clarification! That makes perfect sense! As my first litRPG I can see where I mixed that up. What has been your favorite arc of the series?! My favorite is probably still the first arc of the first three books…
@r0kus2 күн бұрын
@@thesandersreview I don't know that I have a favorite arc. I was really impressed by the transitions between the arc of the first three books and the next three. It made the story so much bigger. I actually read (not listened to) the books on my Kindle. I'm kind of jealous that you had the audio experience. I did, however listen to the _Dungeon Crawler Carl_ series in audio form, and if you decide to check that out, audio is absolutely the way to go.

I started this series when it first released on audible, I was a bit hesitant at the start and I didn’t think it would be good by the title, then I read some of the negative reviews and there where a lot of them, but I decided to give it a spin and it has become my favourite book series of all time!! The 11th book even came out on my birthday!!!

@thesandersreview4 сағат бұрын
@@scepticalbeliever I would say it is slightly better written than Ready Player One. Better world building and characters for sure. You can tell that it was a passion project for a first book, so I give it grace for that. It could have been edited down a bit. Definitely recommend though!
