Steger was never comfortable with HZW's crazy serves. This is what happens when you only train against Euro loopers :/

Traditional penhold needs new young generation players. No need for two sides. Smart tactics, hard practice, experience, blistering fast footwork, weight training, and so on. Just need to see some young generation traditional penholders tear the scene up.. too much of the same styles these days

With the slow big plastic balls, playing traditional penhold is difficult because you can't create enough speed to put your opponent under pressure from the start. The opponent can react to your first forehand attack and play into your open backhand. I think we won't see any traditional backhand players in the top 20 with these rules.

Yes, most likely the world who see any. It’s definitely possible. Again there needs to be a higher percentage of younger generation athletes taking it on. Going to need weight training, fastest rubber (+ do something to it properly, lots of players do) fastest traditional penhold blade (10.5 tightest grain hinoki or something mixed w carbon. With the skills, physical power, fastest rubber/blade should still be able to power the larger ball. So the world can enjoy to watch world class caliber traditional penhold athletes year the scene up, that’d be a refreshment to see!!

What was the problem with Steger's serve that the referee did not like ?
@rubadubwise10 жыл бұрын
Steger was serving over the table IIRC and the umpire faulted that behaviour after he cautioned him.

I think it wasn't high enough 0.49 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fojSfZiiZ8xsmq8 You can contact ball after it falls 16 cm (the height of the net). Steger lifts the ball high but then imidiatelly contacted it with the bet but he needed to waite at least it falls 16 cm down.

It looked like he brought his hands up, but no 6" toss and drop. He didn't seem to make any effort to go for a clearly legal serve either. Very avoidable fault IMO
