My question is. If the catcher can see the ball to allow them to catch it, why can't the hitter actually see the ball to allow them to hit it????

The biggest difference is the catcher knows what pitch is coming and the hitter does not. The hitter is typically trying to hit the ball with a certain level of effort in their swing which creates a timing variable among many others. Hitter is using a bat with 2+ inch diameter vs a catcher with a 32+ inch mitt who can much more easily receive the ball vs “hit it”. Then you get into the mental side of a hitter vs catcher, complete opposite mindsets. Offense vs defense. Hope this helps👊

@mentalhittingguy Well Barry Bonds says that if a catcher can see it and catch it then he could see it and catch it... only thing is that he changes the object used to catch it. Catcher uses a mit he used the barrel of the bat.

Well yes of course. No one said it’s NOT possible. Of course players hit the ball all the time despite the difficulty. For Barry Bonds that was his philosophy and how he made something so difficult, so simple in his mind.

Thanks for your videos. I did not grow up playing Baseball and I "only" play Slowpitch Softball, but I got a lot of tips out of your stuff.
