My 1967 Lancia Flavia Milleotto Berlina has been up-and-down many Pyrenée mountain passes, but this last Autobahn trip to-and-from the Nürburgring (plus three hefty laps on the track) was too much for the old lady.

Great content, fabulous workshop.Love that berlina style Lancia. A rattling bunch of tappets is better than no noise,at least the valves are closing!I can't help but think there is a correct flywheel (piston)position to adjust each tappet though.Maybe a trifle noisy just now. 😎

Yes there are ‘safe’ crank degrees. But I work ‘the Ultimostile way’ LOL. I talked to my mechanic Steffen, who just recently tuned a Flavia engine, and he told me that the 1.8L and 2.0 actually has 0.15mm and 0.25mm in the book. Maybe my book is only for 1.5L. But it DOES sound a little too noisy ;)

Mvh Velo

Hi velo; yes it was a tour-de-force. And I suppose I underestimated the narrow clearances; the influence it has ;)

Don't you have to machine the heads to make sure they are not heat warped from being overheated or it won't be a level mating surface? Is it a cast iron head or aluminum? I also have a flavia coupe. For my own future reference.😉

It is all-aluminium with cast iron liners. I assumed that such a low-powered engine would not need skimming - only cleaning
