@@derp8575 Ha. I think it's gotten worse, though there is a niche in the indie video game sphere. For instance, we've had Toby Fox come to preeminence, pretty much only known for Homestuck when I made that comment. Now he's made Undertale and Deltarune, and even contributed to Pokemon games in the mainstream. A lot of amazing music makers in video games, maybe even some mainline games. There is Nobuo Uemstsu who is well known 15 years ago but still at it. As far as like Western mainstream stuff, I can't think of a single artist or even TV show theme song that is good. Do TV shows even have theme songs anymore? I think 15 years ago was actually better for mainstream Western stuff. 😂

@@moccalou Actually I meant an update on your life. A lot happens in 15 years. Glad you are still living at least. What I wouldn't give for it to be 2009 again. Life was so beautiful and I didn't know it until it was too late.

@@derp8575 Ahhh, very true. Thanks. A lot happened to me since that comment. Especially in the first half of those 15 years. I graduated college, got my first job, a cushy overnment job, decided it wasn't for me, moved to Florida and got a job as a janitor at a marine park and got to be around dolphins, ran out of money, got a job with USPS for a while, moved to California, then to the midwest. Right now kind of just working on getting in shape and deciding what's next for me. Hope things turn out well for you!

@bucky468 I never watched this show as a kid because I was born in 83, so I didn't watch shows like this until the TGIF days started, but I did watch reruns of Welcome Back Kotter on Nick at Nite in the 90's, and it seems like the big difference is that this show is about smart kids, while Kotter was about dumb kids. So at least they did a reversal of the premise.

Musicians: This is a great example of music that was mixed for old TV speakers. It never sounded this thin and toppy when broadcast. It had a really rich and full sound on 'warm' sounding mono TVs of the 80s. Great piece of music from a great show - I hated the 80s at the time, now I miss them!

@Kevember
@Kevember 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikekaraoke "WTF" is a very strong reaction to Prince Westerburg's comment. Some people use the word to express dislike (e.g. "I hate waking up early on weekends", "Man, I hate it when you wear that shirt"), it doesn't necessarily mean they're being consumed by hatred. I know you posted this a very long time ago, but still.

I was born in 82 and grew up in the Bronx and man this really flashes me back to the city during that time period. I know every generation says it but it really was a different time. And it was. The last generation before technology really started to change the direction of the world. And the various shots of the city even though I was never allowed to go into Manhattan alone as a kid sure do standout.

This was from a time when I was just an innocent, naive little kid. When sitcoms were wholesome and meaningful. Sure, it doesn't make sense to me now how a city's most academically gifted students would take more than 5 years to graduate high school, but I was a kid then. What the hell did I know?
