Don't cry. It's all part of life's rich tapestry. Here's a little motto I've always remembered to help me get through the tough times life throws at you. Maybe it can help you too. #1: When you're rolling out the dough, just make sure you roll it slow. #2: If you make the dough too quick, then the perils of life can make you sick. #3: When you put the filling in, just make sure you wear a grin. #4: When you smile at what you have, then your life will turn out swell.

***** Good observation Jack, I mean that. However Perfect strangers was part of the TGIF line-up. TGIF started in 89' while the final episode date of Perfect Strangers was in 93.
@ItsGroundhogDay9 жыл бұрын
It was one of the shows that kickstarted TGIF, the other notable show at the time being Full House and then the Perfect Strangers spinoff, Family Matters. By that point, it had been on for a few seasons. It had a brief stint as a key show for I Love Saturday Night, but both it and the entire block quickly faded, before it moved back to Fridays for the last few episodes of its run. Then Step by Step, Boy Meets World, and Sabrina took over, and TGIF was still awesome. And then... thud. I appreciate ABC's attempts at a TGIF revival of sorts, but everything other than Last Man Standing is falling flat. It's been nice to see some attempts to revive the old shows again as well, with Girl Meets World and the upcoming Fuller House.

@@craftistic82 ok so it was the 90's and not the 80's???? I know I use to watch it as a little girl but never thought it was the 80's. Oh how I WISH the world today was still like living in the 80's and 90's. So what if there was no cell phones or maybe they weren't used as much, but live was so much simpler and safer.

***** Perfect Strangers - Before Family Matters, Harriette Winslow was originally the elevator operator at the Chicago Chronicle newspaper office in the third and fourth seasons of Perfect Strangers. Family Matters was a spin-off series given to this character in 1989. In the second episode of Family Matters, Harriette was fired as elevator operator at the Chronicle, but was soon re-hired as "Chief of Security," which explained her absence from dealings with the Perfect Strangers cast. Sometimes the world looks perfect, Nothing to rearrange. Sometimes you just get a feeling Like you need some kind of change. No matter what the odds are this time, Nothing's going to stand in my way. This flame in my heart, Like a long lost friend Gives every dark street a light at the end. Standing tall, on the wings of my dream. Rise and fall, on the wings of my dream. The rain and thunder The wind and haze I'm bound for better days. It's my life and my dream, Nothing's going to stop me now. (Nothing's going to stop me) It's my life and my dream, Nothing's going to stop me now. Nothing's going to stop me now.

I've been listening to a number of 80's shows themes (Perfect Strangers, Head of the Class, Fall Guy, etc.) and what really strikes me is how hopeful and happy the theme songs were. You just don't get that today, more proof that the 80's was truly the best decade EVER!

Why don't they make shows with good theme songs anymore?
@Muggle42311 жыл бұрын
Because that actually takes creativity and people are lacking that aspect nowadays. And catchy theme songs usually last a minute, which would take airtime away from crappy commercials. Really, they need to bring back theme songs. That's what made these shows of the 70s, 80s, and 90s,,,and the fact that you could watch these shows as a family, not like the raunchy crap they have on now!
@harrisonite11 жыл бұрын
Title sequences have been slimmed down in favor of "cold openings" that give a bit about the story to engage the viewer in the plot. They usually throw in a "hook" to raise intrigue by showing something unexplained. I think not having theme songs is about grabbing the limited number of viewers in the very diverse TV landscape. Theme Songs really can become repetitive and while they give a picture of the Series, they do not describe what will happen on that evening's particular show.
@urthboundmisfit11 жыл бұрын
Harrison Crowe You can have a cold opening and a theme in the same show. Even if there aren't sung lyrics they're still using them. Examples: Doctor Who, Walking Dead.
