A teacher ones told me: "What is hard today will one day be your warm up". When I look at old drawings I realize she was right. Warm ups are one of the best ways to kill the fear of the white canvas, love them.

Jeff should make his sketches available as ebooks. I'd buy them in a Heartbeat.

This dude is outlining the planes..... He _outlines_ the _planes_ where light hits differently before he shades anything? His knowledge base and understanding of lighting must be phenomenal!! And obviously his anatomical foundations are off the charts. Sheeesh.. Would that I had the lifestyle that allowed tutelage from here...

It must be relaxing to Jeff to be able to simply draw and enjoy and not have to narrate every stroke ...great artist and great guy! I miss coming to the school.

How much does it cost x year or semester? (Not sure how this works) I am saving money and wanted to move to California and attend this school in order improve my skills. I saw online courses but I just like interacting with people.

One of the best draftsman and teacher in the world right now. I like others too, like G. Vilppu, S. Huston, K. Gnass T. Gula etc. which are let’s say more artistic in their approach but J. Watts is like the next Frank Reilly or something.

Inspiring, this guy right here made me appreciate figurative art so much more that I went back and review the figure drawing principles from the beginning, studied them once more but this time more conscious and responsible. God like mr Watts, very inspiring, nothing but the best to you and thank you.

Hilbert's Inn 6b yes?
@hilbertsinn6886
@hilbertsinn6886 5 жыл бұрын
@@agntsmth77 Has to be. I should have mentioned, in case any reading this is thinking of trying them, that Wolff's hardness rating is very different from everyone else's and anything harder than a 6b will not work well on newsprint. All the harder grades work superbly on regular drawing paper however, and the b pencils (the hardest) actually hold a point better than graphite but will still make jet black lines. The only disadvantage is they won't glide across the paper without friction like graphite.

@@hilbertsinn6886 A pity they are fragile.. when I import them they arrive compeltely broken in the inside so I never ever can make a long tip :(
@hilbertsinn6886
@hilbertsinn6886 5 жыл бұрын
@@tiagodagostini Trust me, they're not fragile; that's a shipping problem. If they're not mishandled they're actually far more resistant to shattering than any other black pencil I've ever used, and certainly more so than the Conte. (I swear they're not paying me to write these comments. lol) Also, I'd recommend sharpening them to a chisel tip rather than a long tapered cone. By this I mean expose about half an inch of lead, rub one side on sandpaper at a very shallow angle as if it's the leaning tower of Pisa right before it falls, then round off the corners so the silhouette looks like an an exacto knife blade from one angle, and a filbert or cat's tongue brush when rotated 90 degrees. This gives you a flat edge for shading that is to some extent self-resharpening, and the sharp edge functions like a dry calligraphy pen for line variation.
