Are these pencils good for drawing on the canvas before painting with oils?

The space is very busy. in my opinion, a person does not need so many things. I would suffocate in such an environment.

PLEASE. Do not add background to that painting. It is perfect as is. Books are life. Wish I had room in my studio area for my books. Love the papers rack.

Certainly a gouache painting show and tell. But: tiling? what's tiling? (I heard the word a few times, but that's all.)

Ive watched this video probably 10 times over the last two years. I turn 35 in two weeks and Its taken me a long time to realise that art is my true calling. I wish I had started a decade ago but better I start today then in another decade. No more messing around. Its time to get focused! When I inevitably return to this video, I'll keep you all updated of my progress.

Not of much practical importance. Just to thank you for opening a whole new world for me, that of drawing, at the ripe age of 52.

I was today years old when I discovered your seven-year-old video! This video is so validating and so exciting because all of these OCD things I have been doing you are mentioning in this video. I’ve been building a massive library. I have been time blocking developing certain aspects of drawing on my own outside of my classes. I took Art for a few years decades ago in high school before I got distracted by foreign language and then I spent about 20 or 30 years in historical reenactment, which gave me a really great foundation in art history and learning about techniques and processes in the various fields of art. I got a job at my local university so that I could go to school part time as part of the benefit but because I have my historic reenactment background, I am kind of hardwired to be more methodical and dig deeper and Leverage the basic techniques. I’m learning in classes to expand my skills even further. I saw a video that is more recent. That was a tour of your studio and I have been following Proko Art for a while and was excited that he was one of your students. So I’m just ever so grateful that KZbin algorithm gods have finally let me discover you. I have already decided that I want to take additional instruction independent of my curriculum so I can do deeper dives into improving my technique. I’m going to work some of your online courses into my budget during my summers and winter break. I am just incredibly happy that you and your school exists.

Linear progression is one theory. There are times we have great discoveries and jumps in abilities. The creative process includes incubation of ideas.

Yeah. I think there's also the idea of rather than give up: rest and then keep going. I've been trying out different art forms like acting and writing to let my drawing and painting rest for a bit. Then have been picking up a pencil and doing simple cafe sketching to ease back in.
