Head work!

As part of my VW air cooled engine build series its time to put the heads together. In this video I explain what to look out for when using used heads, valve lapping and valve fitting. I have actually restored TR3 which was the first rally car of Timo Mäkinen and was lucky enough to present it too him before he sadly passed away. Hopefully you'll get your dream car some day 😊 Yes the VW air cooled engine doesn't require the seals because of being a flat four and oil doesn't sit on top of the heads. Jamie

Does the valves not have valve stem seals?

Hello there. No they don't require them due to the valves laying horizontal, so no oil collects on the top. Jamie
