Thank you for this!! I am sooo glad you went with this one as your qorma recipe. For all those wondering why yoghurt and not cashew/cream/coconut etc, this is the single biggest difference between a Pakistani qorma and an Indian one (yes people, there are differences!). I prefer it this way as the yoghurt actually helps the spices 'sing' and adds a perfect sour element without the need for tomatoes. Cashew/coconut tone the spices down and sweeten the overall flavour (Im Indian).

Mmmm!! You can cut carbs by switching the red onion for a yellow onion!! Red onions have 8.9 carbs per 1/2 cup and Yellow has 3.5 per half cup!! I love Indian food!! You get the health benefits from the turmeric by having with the peppercorns..Hugs from Buffalo!!!
@HKKetoRecipes6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, unfortunately the red onions are the staple here in India, we don't get the big white onions hence I'm always using them in videos.
@JewelsFromVenus6 жыл бұрын
Oh that sucks.. Over here in america the larger red and sweet white ones cost twice as much..We get a bagful of the yellow cooking onions for $3 so its the exact opposite here!

"Because . . . food porn." Man, you're dangerous to watch while consuming a beverage, Sahil. That was hysterical. All of those fresh, whole seasonings look so succulent. I also have to admit to casting a lustful glance at your cappuccino machine. In terms of gastronomy, I'm always leery of "traditional" dishes that use tomato, given that they originated in North America and are related to nightshade belladonna and were thus considered poisonous until about the 19th century. Therefore, any "traditional" cooking that uses tomato (like Italian pasta sauces) are often not considered traditional by professional chefs. In Italy, you seldom even see tomato used in the north, where they still favor cream and olive oil-based sauces.

Can’t wait to try. I love the flavor coconut cream imparts to Korma, but unfortunately the added sugars can be a bit too much for Keto. There are a lot of Keto recipes out there that are in my opinion too high in carbs. Yes, they may be under 20 grams, but that means you have to be extremely stingy with carbs for all of your other meals and snacks that day. For me, a good keto recipe would be no more than 6-7 net grams of carbs...I’ll stretch occasionally to 10.

i had no idea that's what makes a korma a korma, and i've seen them on the menu in US indian restos my whole life! (oh, and i'm indian american!) i always thought they weren't much different from a typical chicken curry, but clearly that's not the case. thanks for digging into the actual uniqueness of this recipe. i can't wait to try it! ps. i live for your food reactions. :-D
@HKKetoRecipes6 жыл бұрын
hahaaha next time you go out please order it and tell me what it was like. I really want to know what it's all about in the USA and the UK.
@jraaccounts6 жыл бұрын
ahh, would love to do that for you, but i can't currently! :-\ i'm having some awful digestive problems (something to do with fructose, i think) that means i can't eat onion or garlic (amongst other things). they make me utterly miserable... it's so awful, because i love them so much!!! (and they are in EVERYthing... esp. in indian food of course.) i want to know what it's all about, too! since my fam is from the south, all the north indian resto dishes kinda blur into one for me...! i was thinking of maybe trying your recipe but soaking the onions in the yogurt so it imparts the flavor, and then draining them out. i did figure out a couple weeks ago that i CAN handle oil or fat in which garlic or onions have been fried and then removed, so that the oil has the flavor of the veg. it's been my savior.
@MrQuagmire266 жыл бұрын
Kormas are often a disappointment in the west. It's normally some yellow, overly sweet gunk that is BIR (british indian restaurant) style. The best places to get a good korma is going to a gem where local desis go that revolves more around homestyle cooking. In the typical places western clients go the desi owner won't even eat whats on the menu. They got staff food and "pretend to be indian" gunk for the clients.

Oh my. Epic. Can’t wait to try it.

The coconut thing is common for Southern India. Vahchef made both the Kurma and Mughlai style Shahi Korma. They both are slightly different from each other. Oh pssst! Don't tell anyone, but I had an extramarital affair many times... with a chicken Korma.

Bro your food looks soooo deeeeelicious! There is no bad way to present the food, the colors make every piece stand out! I've never seen it at my local stores in the Los Angeles area but I'm sure I could order it from somewhere..
@HKKetoRecipes6 жыл бұрын
That's star anise. I'm not sure about the cost in LA but you should find it at any Indian grocery shop. Also you can skip any spices that you don't find, it will still taste good. Written recipe is below the video.

I used boneless chicken thighs instead of leg and thigh because that's all I could get but I'd love to try this with bone-in meat. I think it was more of a gray (not in a bad way) maybe. It has been years since I have had it. I know it had grapes (not keto) and nuts (could have been almonds), and may have been coconut based. I always thought of it as a curry version of Peshwari Naan.
