I don’t think people realize how important having friends with parents like this is for some kids. Sometimes the only type of parental love a kids gets is from from their friends’ parents. I had one friend in school who had a mom like Abbey. I cannot possibly explain how much the hugs, meals, and love I received at their house kept me together.

This!!! My friends mom would throw us tea parties and make homemade treats and make chai in the cutest kettle I’ve seen. Even in high school. And it was always the best knowing we could come to her about anything and her not judge us but still hold us accountable when we needed it. She’s the best and I’ll forever be thankful for her. She impacted my life tremendously with how she cared.

I’m the b-day party gift bag queen (self appointed lol) and I ALWAYS purchase an additional amount of each item that’s going into the goodie bag or part of the party goodies. I’ve found having 5 extra is the best option, in my experience. 1) you can return the extras, if needed 2) they can go into the “last minute gift closet” 3) I give them to my kids or a friend that wasn’t able to attend. The last time I didn’t purchase the extra 5 items, I had to panic order 12 gum-ball machines because I was short 2 & could only get them on time via Amazon in a 12 count! Turned out quite a few kids weren’t allowed to have gum. Lol I probably should’ve thought about that beforehand but it was a Candy Land themed birthday party. There was an obscene amount of candy. That’s also the first and only time I’ve had people go through the goodie bags on the way out and say “oh, I can’t have this” (a gum ball machine with gum balls in it)! Just take it home and throw it away! Don’t make it awkward as you’re leaving. Lol

I will say that as someone who got a cup with a wooden lid, DO NOT PUT IT ON WITH A DRINK INSIDE!! I learned the hard way that it can cause the unsealed/unprotected wood to absorb bacteria and produce mold. (It was a Totoro cup and I still use it without the lid. Wouldn't trade it for the world.) Also you two are adorable, keep it up momma! You're doing amazing. ^_^

At my oldest sons 8th bday party (circa 2012) we invited 23 kids,somehow we had 47 kids show up to Valley worlds of fun. Ended up costing me over 3k. I now hand out all invitations myself and require that invitation is brought in order to enter the party. My poor gma spent the whole bday party counting out tokens and putting them in brown paper bags. ***nothing crappies than going to a bday party and only getting 10 tokens so be bought 100 per kid plus the complimentary 10 and had to buy 240 more tokens because we only reserved the party for 23. It was a mess.

Now as an adult with her her own six-figure salary, I regret the culture of things I used to live in and now prefer to invest and save, realizing that things, especially cheap things, break or we, especially children, tire of them and they wind up in landfills. 🎉

That's really sad. I also suffered when I was younger. But buying lots of rubbish doesn't equate to being a good mum. People can be rich and still have a bad childhood. It's more to do with communication and the love you felt you didn't receive whether that's physically or emotionally. Hopefully you are able to heal and find peace

@@Abcdefg123-c1u I'm not sure how old you are now, but as someone who is older who has suffered with depression from a young age like you, I know what it can feel like. Everyone has a different experience, some people get therapy, some people take medication, some people say they get completely better, but whatever it is that may or may not work for you, my advice is always focus on making yourself happy first before anything or anyone else, and although it might not be what you want to hear, I personally think depression is lifelong, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. A lot of the time it can be due to being hyper sensitive and empathetic, which is a very lovely trait to have, it's just hard for it not to be overwhelming and also not to let anyone take advantage of you. So be strong, stay positive and concentrate on making yourself happy
