I did mine recently. Started with 800 grit wet and dry, finished off with 2,500. Used yellow cutting pad with compound and then white buffing pad to polish. Mine came up a treat too!

I noticed on my headlights that 1500 was way too course. Sometimes you need harsh though

So start with 600 or 800, if 600 then 800, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000 then 2500.

Full process was 1500, 2000, 2500, cut using koche heavy cut and microfibre cutting pad followed by fine cut and med foam pad. Finished with carpro cquartz SiC ceramic coating. The other side was straight 2500. Needed something courser but wanted to see how it went.

@@KnLAutoDetailing yours came up mint, using a coating will protect them from UV rays. I have a pearl white 2003 wagon with leather trim. This is my second Crown as I sold the silver one I had as the colour bugged me after a while. They are great cars! My son has a white sedan.

Use a pad or block when sanding not your fingertips, you'll get a much more even finish.

I agree a pad gives a more even finish. However on some occasions i prefer using my hand for accuracy (in this case a block would have been better though).

The best way is to sand and 2k lacquer them. Then you dont have worry about waxing/ceramic coating them every few months.

Few reasons i chose the ceramic coat route. It should last about 2 years. Generally speaking a ceramic coat once cured forms a compound stronger than your typical clear coat. Particularly anything you can buy off the shelf anyway. Another reason is the coating also gives you slightly better clarity on a polycarbonate lens. It also a lot easier and time effective to do it this way which is preferred by customers. Even if i did 2k clear them there is no guarantee that after 2 years I wouldn't need to do some sort of maintanence to it (like you car's body paint). Sorry for the essay, just thought I would use my reply to you to talk through my thought process. Something I love about detailing is how many different methods there are to achieve the best result. At the end of the day you pick what works best for you and your customers 😊
