@omeezyLK I mean do what works best for you, but in my testing, it isn't better. It just leads to your pad breaking down faster. Pads have a level of cut to them too. If you over saturate it with polish, you are hindering the performance of it. I've been detailing for years polishing paint and never have I had a pad deteriorate like that because I clean them. But as long as the headlights come out clear and glossy, use whatever works👍🏻

@@DelgadoDetailing So you wash them with soap & water, and what are the best 3" pads you recommend for headlights.??
@DelgadoDetailing
@DelgadoDetailing 8 ай бұрын
@karkule5919 So far, my favorite has to be the Lake Country Blue HDO Pad. Basically, any stiffer foam pad will do a decent job. If you're going to polish with a 3 inch dual action (this is what I'm doing now), I'll use a lake country microfiber pad with some Griots Fast Correcting Cream, then use an Orange Lake Country foam pad with 3d headlight restore. But honestly, the 3m pad is also really dang good. I've just had better performance with cleaning it after the restoration is done

I just came across your channel, and i must say, your headlight restoration jobs are a form of art! Do you offer your customers any other options in terms of protection after the restoration? The Meguiars keep clear headlight coat seems really good. But, wouldn't a UV resistant PPF last longer? Or even a good quality ceramic coating? I have watched plenty of your videos, but havent seen you using any other products apart from the Meguiars keep clear, and started to wonder why.

I love your videos and I don't know why they are so addicting but they are. In a very tired state - I put on a second coat on one of the headlights I was restoring, and as you can guess it made it go from a great restore to now, a cloudy restore. Do I redo via sanding and all the steps - or should I just use the polishing compound to get back to where it was (which looked good.)?

So I bought a roll of the green automotive tape that was ridiculously expensive compared to the cheap blue tape from Walmart and I was hoping that there would be a big difference in the release but maybe it’s just me but these seam to stick the same. What are your thoughts ? I’ve been buying the scotch Blue Original #2090 and they both seam to hold on too much and I’m often doing older cars so I’m worried about pulling on the paint

Came back to update on my first comment about my headlights looking like shit. Turns out I skipped a step, didnt wet sand after dry sanding. Also used P800 unessassarily which gave me a little extra light grit sanding to do to fix the headlight. Rere-did them today(3rd time) I cocktailed, used PlastX with Chemical Guys Headlight Restorer, sealed with Meguiar's Headlight Coating and my headlights came out fucking flawless. Thank you for all the insight.

Geez. These look like the best outcome yet! One question, I performed a great restoration using your method. I then wrapped them in plastic wrap after a few days of drying (I did a projector retrofit on them) and shipped them out. The customer said they left a residue and they looked like crap. Same with his foglights. What do you recommend for this situation? Edit: it was the meguiar's headlight coating. I've also noticed on a different set of lights that it never really seems to dry and it'll get ruined very very quickly

I need help… I start with 3m p500 and get it all done I used 2 of them . Next I used a 3m p800 and use 2 as well then I hand sand it to get the drill swirls out then I wet the light and my 3000 trizac pad and when I’m done I still see the straight scratches from the p800. I don’t know how to get rid of them . I use a drill for the sanding . Please help 😢. I do good but Ik it can be a lot better .

You are pushing too hard. To help me make sure I've removed the p500, I do a hand sand at the end. If I still see lines after p800 drill, I know I need to go more. For me, I needed to implement a p1500 step as the p800 with a heavy hand (like mine lol) can leave deep scratches. So I usually do p500, p800, p1500, p3000 trizact

Ok i just did a restoration on a 2010 Honda accord this morning. Did everything like I normally do which is exactly your technique and products. Previous ones always come out perfect crystal clear. But these no matter what have a white almost haze to them. Customer loved it. They were extremely bad before. But I redid the one side 3 time for my own perfectionism. And nothing got out that white haze. Maybe it was inside? I don't know have you ran into that? Customer was very happy Eben though I pointed it out and told her I'm not 100% happy with them. She didn't care and gave me a $25 tip on top of what I charged.

Quick question brotha. I bought the harbor freight set you talk about for the backing tool. Do you use the P500-800-foam pad they included or just toss those. I feel weird tossing them but I have no reference to how quality they are compared to these 3M ones. What do you do with them? Same with the Polish they throw in there. Any info is appreciated!

One set (my moms car) was a set I did a few weeks ago and I made them look worse at first. Lol. I had to wet sand and buff them. Idk if it's the sanding disc's I was using or what. @chrissanchez6610

So in order to get a glossy finish, you have to do one heavy coat. The can says to do a second coat, but every time I've done that in the past, I get more like a frosty finish and it doesn't look great. Since I've been doing the Headlight Restoration Pro's method using one single heavy coat, they come out flawless! I used to be a wet sand headlight restoration guy, but I'll never go back after using this method haha like Nacho Libre would say "It's the Best"
