You should try the Meguiar's or Cerakote headlight coating spray after peeling the lens like you did on this video. I have a video on KZbin called " Meguiar's headlight coating spray " I prepared the headlight lens's by wet sanding them and then used the Meguiar's headlight coating spray after wiping them down with rubbing alcohol and a dry paper towel next.

I have NO IDEA why everyone in these videos doesn’t open the hood of the car BEFORE taping up around the light. 😂😂😂 #keepITsimpleIFyouCAN👍🏾

Not quite as dramatic a difference - before and after - as I had anticipated. FWIW, might mention that the package actually recommends trying only the final step (i.e. polish ball + polish) first, to see if that might do the job. If not, then go for the "full meal deal" as you have demonstrated.

Cleared it up heaps, very nice!

After the job, spray the headlight lens with "303 Ultimate UV Protectant" (473 ml spray bottle). Available for around $20 from any good auto shop. This will stop the lens clouding over again. Reapply the spray every 6 months to continue the protection.

Wow, did this myself today. Works great.

Mothers mag wheel polish is a lot faster and gets the same results.. And it lasts, no clear coat needed.. I miss the days of glass headlights...

Used this today on the front lights on my 2005 VW Bora. Previous owner had tried to fix them with a Turtle Wax kit. It had taken out some of the yellow but left the lights looking extremely cloudy. This kit has them looking almost like new and in many respects I could have taken a bit more time to sand a little better. Great product! On another video I watched the bloke sealed the light using a UV resistant clear aerosol paint. Might give that a try next time should I have the problem again.

This is a well done video. Follow this guy's narration and your lights should look almost like new. I have done this twice to the headlights on my Volvo Truck. There are pros and cons. The pros are that it works pretty good and that you can do it yourself if you're not lame. The cons are: 1- the resulting clarity seems to last only about 7 months (for me, as a cross country trucker, that is about 60,000 miles) 2 - the Nu Lens box contains enough sanding discs to do two separate applications...if you are conservative. Another thing, if you go to Mother's website, you'll find an instruction video where they use only the polishing power ball and they show the results that are equivalent to the British or Australian guy in the above video, which, in my estimation, is total and unadulterated bullshit. There is no way that a simple application of the polishing compound is going to erase years and years of the yellowing, faded garbage. (IMO)

+Double Ghod Thanks for the comments. I have found that using the polishing ball and plastic polish provided every month or two after doing a complete sand helps keep them clearer for longer. I have found there is enough plastic polish to last many polishes. Of course the other option is to just get some replacement sand paper and do further sanding by hand, then move to the plastic polish as well if you wanted to keep costs down.

nice job, but (advice) should use Runbbing Compound before using the polishing, it would shine more, rubbing compound will close pores then the polishing add the shining later ... a coat of wax after rubbing and polishing later would be more preffered

The job is *much* easier when your lights have nothing but a slight curve to them. ;) Add on significantly more time for squared-off lights that don't lay flat.

What happens after rain or after 30 days when the polish is gone?
@attygarland69095 жыл бұрын
Unlike some similar products out there, the Mother's Kit does NOT include a "protectant wipe" that claims to retain the results for a year or longer. The box just recommends that you either use the polishing ball or elbow grease with the polish "once a month" to maintain the results. Oh, and then it goes on to mention a co. here in Texas that manufactures custom-cut "stick on" clear protectant sheets that you can use instead. Just peel them off as needed, although they claim to last "seven years". There's a % off coupon inside the box to order them.

no UV protectant coat??
@sojevic5 жыл бұрын
The kit doesn't come with UV protectant, but yes, it is recommended to add a UV coating otherwise you'll be using the kit again in 12-24 months time.

Looks pretty good,is that a Mercedes-Benz ? The headlight,parking light look like Glass,they even have the focusing grooves cast into them?
@tjp6238 жыл бұрын
What's that you're spraying on prior to the polish? Soap and water?
@sojevic8 жыл бұрын
Hey +Thomas Platt, the spray bottle was just water, wouldn't be a bad idea to us some soapy water to keep things lubricated.

Thanks, I was finally able to do this yesterday and they came out great, used all the pads, the 800, 1500 and 3000. Mine were so yellow and hazed that I was able to see that I had one headlamp out. Wow!

Are you painted car too? In before image Car paint was dirty and yellow. But after car paint is clean and blue )))

Absolutely rubbish the finish, I use wet and dry 200,400, finish on 2000 Use my buffer with detailer to give a brand new look headlights. Unfortunately besides waisting your money and time you didn't protect what you tried to achieve, clear coat lacquer to finish ??

1:18 .... just pop the hood ffs
@carpartsau5 жыл бұрын
NotDavidM its a lot easier to wash down a hood rather than try and clean all the mess from the engine. Small amount of masking for an easier clean up.
