Racism does still exist especially true of non ingenious. Nom 69 and a retired paediatric and general nurse I have lived and worked in a few places around the world I laterally in tertiary education where I had students from all over the world. One of the situations where had to deal with racism was the assessment of competency based training was came to assessment of competency forALL students no matter what their background. . In the areas of aged and disability work all clients needing that level of care and support are extremely vulnerable and deserve to be supported by suitably skilled and knowledgeable workers so near enough is simply NOT good enough. We were accused by students who were also immigrants with “you are judging me” when we were assessing ALL students in the same course for competency and nothing else. This was mainly an issue for some males that clearly did not like to take direction from a Caucasian woman. The idea of letting males that make the channel in small boats work in the care sector horrifies me and the people that advocate for this do not have a bloody (sorry) clue what they are talking about about. They will need MORE training not less. And generally the training is sadly lacking to start with!
