Headset Service + Knock fix for beginners on Chris King Inset. Avoid the BIG mistakes, DF-1 review

In this video, I go over servicing a mountain bike headset. People make very common mistakes when performing this service, which usually end up destroying a bearing over time.
I go over headset knock as well, as this bike had a slight knock, so go over what it sounds like and how to fix it.
the headset in the video is a Chris King Inset, but the advice applies to all headsets: Cane Creek, FSA, Industry Nine, Raceface, Thomson etc.
I also review the Parktool Dummy fork 1 DF-1 and provide my thoughts. Out of the box, the tool is basically a useless waste of money, but I explain how you can fix that and turn it into a handy tool.

Nice! That Chris King headset looks like a freaking pain. No thanks! My preferred method for checking for headset knock is to raise the front wheel so the bike is vertical with the rear wheel on the ground and me standing behind it. I then press the saddle up tight to my junk region, grab the rear brake hard, turn the bars to 90 degrees and flex them up and down. This way you take fork bushing slop out of the equation when the bike has both wheels on the ground and the bars turned 90 degrees. Anyway, just what I do! Another quality video!

That is so funny as I have the EXACT response when looking at it. I plan on cutting the steerer by 1mm and then replacing them before giving it back. it'll drive me nuts if I don't. 😁

Not sure what you mean. there's only one way to install it or else it won't work. The video shows exactly how the chris king install guide states it should be installed.
