I grew up on Gordon Lightfoot. So I went looking for covers og this, as a huge fan of the original, and this - this one is brilliant, has it own voice and still respects the original. The verse about all the Lakes and the funeral echoes the majesty of the original, the harmonica shrill at the end carries the haunting sadness of the original - the rest holds the grit of the men the song eulogizes. Brilliantly executed, and with soul.
@cwilliams76045 жыл бұрын

I like this version very much because it is a tribute and not just a cover. A song as popular as this still has alot of meaning to so many people.

I'm an old timer, but I gotta say, this is a good cover by a great band. 😊

When you read the song lyrics, it reads in a generically-prosaic style as if it were a newspaper article. When Gordon sings it, it's a great, classic Canadian song. ...and when the Headstones perform it, it kicks ass!

Incredibly powerful cover of a legendary song and artist. Very rarely can a cover version match the power and emotion of timeless song. Headstones have done it here better than anyone ever has. I applaud and salute your band. Much Respect. Thank You
