You have been moving your body in daily activities in the same/similar way for many years, which has led to the conditions you are in today. So, if you assume new exercises/techniques will change your conditions, you're mistaken. Your nervous system will continue to rely on the patterns it's used in the past, so you will have to find new ways of moving your body so your brain can create new pathways and can start to change the old patterns that it only knew for a long long time! That is the nervous system retraining and movement retraining. This is NOT corrective exercise, or an mechanical exercise for the sake of strengthening and stretching. This is rewiring, reprogramming, retraining your nervous system, which is of course connected to your body!

Wow. Ive tried a few and feel the pull right at very top of my thighs and around hips. Instead of lower thighs and knees. Thank you.

Quick question: do you address hypermobility of the hips in one of your videos? It is so painful to live with...
@TaroIwamoto6 ай бұрын
yes, most of my videos focus on the basic principles that help bring more stability, mobility, and balance to our bodies. My take on the issues related to hypermobile joints is that a simplistic thinking (conventional approach) of strengthening muscles to stabilize the joints doesn't really address the underlying issues. It's not simply the issues of hypermobile soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc), but also the issues of motor control and kinesthetic awareness which is influenced by the nervous system. This is why I focus on guiding students' attention and awareness into their bodies and help them become more aware of their bodies and develop better motor control so they don't keep stressing their joints. Others cannot stabilize your joints for you. You have to have the ability to sense your body and move your body precisely, and that requires your attention and kinesthetic awareness and neuromuscular coordination. Well, that's what I help people learn:)

Doesn't work for me when the chair isn't high enough to put my hips higher than my knees - would be helpful to know how to deal with a chair seat that is too low

Watching it soon. I cannot get out or in chair without knee killing me and without using hands.

exactly why it makes sense to retrain your nervous system and movement patterns so you don't keep relying on the same patterns that aren't working any longer:) by the way, I highly suggest you check my upcoming 14 Day Hip Mobility Challenge, starting on July 29. I will be making announcements next week, so stay tuned!
