how are you now? Last week the ortho told me after looking at my xrays that i need two knees replacement. like you i cried, in the car. i am 5'2 and 107 kg with BMI 46. He said lose weight in 6 months and only then can they do the surgery. He said i have Advanced osteoarthritis and both my knees have started stiffening since i cannot lay them flat on the bed. This was so scary information. I know it's my fault because of my weight but still it's hard to take in. Luckily I found Dr David's web even before my meeting with the ortho so i am trying very hard to convince myself that if i lose weight first i might help my knee without surgery. btw, I hope you're are well now. I gave up, after 2 years of extreme pain in my left knee. I went to my knee doc and begged for a Total Knee Replacement, which, of course, he gladly did. This was all before I discovered Dr. David. Blessed relief. My pain instantly reduced by 75%. I was told that I had a bad meniscus tear. But now I am having issues with my kneecap. Then, I discovered Dr. David. I am now working on my muscle imbalances, and my kneecap pain is slowly decreasing. I feel better every day. I have shown my regular, home therapist Dr. David's philosophy, and he immediately changed his home exercise program for me. I graduated today from therapy, with occasional flare ups from my kneecap. But, I feel so much better. Yes, it was worth it.

You have helped more than the physical therapists I've been to this summer. I felt and heard a pop in my knee, inside, close to the knee cap in mid March. It was during the night and the next day it burned like fire. The inside of my knee became extremely sensitive to touch, so much that I can only sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees. I hurt so bad this summer while on vacation that I walked into an ortho clinic for help. Knee replacement was the number 1 solution but did send me toba physical therapist. He did have me do the dangling exercise which did help. Since ive been back home i went to my Dr who had me see an ortho sur so I saw an ortho surgeon this week and the solution was knee replacement. That night I came across your video about getting rid of inner knee pain! I tried the exercise you gave and the result was amazing! I left the orthopedics office with no hope but you have given hope back for which I'm so grateful! Thank you for caring and sharing. I found you at the right time.

What about straight leg exercises all 4 planes front back both sides it helped me avoid knee pain and I had JRA from aprox 1958 to 1995 l was born 1953 bone on bone for sooo many years from joint damage but l have no pain at all. 10 years ago they wanted to replace both my knees but all l had was a little tare which I healed myself took a long time but I avoided surgery. I've taken all the supplements for over 50 years and won't stop, too much to loose. l feel great at 69 l walk around 2 to 5 miles daily l do a full body workout for 3 miles 3 to 5 days a week. Make sure you take or eat omega 3 oils, turmeric, glucosamine condroitin MSM all important plus 3k to 5 k vit. D3 and a good quality natural multivitamin not synthetic. Be patient it takes time to reverse pain and damage but it can be done.

Yes I love your work. I have been taking your advice and adding a few other bits and pieces here and now. The first time I went in to see any specialist they had a CT scan and the specialist said that I have arthritis under the right knee joint. I’m 52 at the moment and he said I’m too old for a knee reconstruction. I’m too old for knee replacement. But he said that he was in bad condition. So six months later after doing those moves and procedures that you have put forward to us. I have seen another specialist twice more and he stated that he wished he had knee joints like myself at my age. He said there is no arthritis no Cartlidge damage nothing wrong in the knees. And that is just in six months of these procedures you have educated if you is on. Can’t thank you enough for getting out there and Educating the public on right form technique dos and don’t’s for good joints. Love your work thank you

I'm 66 years old and just got diagnosed with severe arthritis bone on bone very painful. It started gradually since last November and became unbearable in July of this year. Being that it was my first visit at the orthopedic clinic I got a cortisone shot to alleviate the pain. I'm not into medical drugs I believe that it may relieve temporarily but harm another part of the body. I was thinking all day of doing natural home remedies and the right exercise. I then tuned on to KZbin and saw your videos.Thank you so much. I am going to do these exercises because I don't want to take future cortisone or medication or have a knee replacement. I am a healthy person thank God. I'm not on any health medication and I want to keep it that way😊 Thank you again for your video God bless you for sharing.

You are 100% correct about walking. I ran for years, and when knee pain sidelined me, I kept walking for exercise. But it didn't get better, it has steadily gotten WORSE. Now I go to the gym and do other cardio (but NO TREADMILL) and work with a personal trainer, but I have stopped walking for exercise and that is the only way I can control the pain and swelling in my knee. Also, I am intrigued by point #3 where you say that what they show you on an x-ray (in my case, "You have stage 3 arthritis") might not be permanent. That is a game changer, I never knew that! They made it sound like the degeneration was irreversible and would only get worse, but never better.

This is great advice, but my knees were so severe, I finally got both knees replaced last year. Before, I couldn't even go to the grocery store, even do simple household tasks and had chronic bursitis. I regret not getting them replaced sooner. It's great if anyone can get help from exercises or therapy. but I just wish I had my knees replaced years before they got that bad. The surgery and recovery were not that bad. Lots of physical therapy and walking was essential. Good luck to you all doing exercises or therapy. I hope it works for you, but if you need surgery, don't be afraid to get it. JMO

This video has revealed that my thigh, quad and glute muscles are part of the problem. With a little work out on these and especially the glute muscles I can feel improvement and cannot wait to see what further workout will bring! I have been using Collagen-two scoops, Turmeric, Boswellia-joint mobility and Solgar No. 7-joint support for growth stimulants.

I've had issues with my knee for over 7 years and never ever heard from any physical therapist about strengthening the glutes or most of the other exercises you've talked about. my question to you is, why aren't they telling us this? Is it because they want us to have a surgery? Your approach makes sense.

Hey J Foster! All physical therapists are trained differently. In the US, you can find a physical therapist trained similar to Dr. David at this website: aaompt.org/Main/Public_Resources/Find-A-Fellow/Main/Member_Resources/Find-A-Fellow.aspx?hkey=108c9a56-f793-45e4-b3ed-cefe5d871a94 Dr. David is a fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists. His specialty is orthopedic manual physical therapy, which is the ideal specialty for helping someone avoid surgery, injections, and medications. Normal physical therapists are best trained to help people right after surgery.

Surgery means 💰 so yeah I believe that. I have RA and a physical therapist came to my house and said " you know you're not going to get any better right? Me and my husband just looked at each other. Will share that my shoulders, wrists, elbows, knees, hips and ankles are causing me agony. RA has now turned to disease called vasculitis. Actor Ashton Kutcher had it and actor Harold Grimes from Ghostbusters died from it. Guess my future looks bleak.

This video has great info! I was told by my orthopedist recently that it takes 3 patients these days for doctors to make what 1 patient surgery made them 10 years ago! I'm almost embarrassed when I see what Medicare pays in relation as to what was charged! I spent 3 hours in a waiting room to see knee surgeon because their office was so overbooked. I walked out! I still haven't gone back and I am getting along just fine! You nailed it on your #3 tip!!! Great video!! Keep your original parts!!!!

Hi Christine.......painful knees are no fun........my problem after having the toxic jab is extremely tight tendons in my legs......... I stretch my legs while sitting on the side of the bed before I try to stand up........seems to help quite a bit......heat pad on the sore part helps too.....walking backwards, even just around the house, actually at every opportunity helps to build different muscles around the knees.....works for me......keep on keeping on. 🥰🥰🥰

I’ve been dealing with knee pain for a few weeks now. The second day it started I went to an ortho and without further info he told me I had arthritis and gave me a cortisone injection. That did not do anything. The pain continued and increased as the days passed by. I ended up in ER due to pain. The Dr. there put a patch of lidocaine which did nothing either. I’ve been learning so much with your videos. Getting prepared for another ortho appointment. At least now I have more questions to ask based on the info you shared with us for which I am very grateful.

Hey Trevor, sorry to hear you already had the TKR and are still having issues :( We have a great program that was just released that was designed to help people after failed knee replacements. In case you are interested in learning more, here is a link with more information: The Failed Knee Replacement Recovery Program is a comprehensive program designed to help people with treatment strategies that are effective at helping calm down an irritated knee, then guiding you to treat the root problem that sets up knee arthritis and continues to cause knee pain in a replaced knee joint. This program works even for a revised knee replacement. You will learn: Fast ways to reduce knee pain and swelling so you can quickly get to being able to tolerate sleeping and being on your feet more. How to gain more motion in your knee joint (if you're missing some motion) without forcing yourself to do aggressive, painful stretches. Thorough understanding of the root muscle imbalance so that you can apply the information to your specific life situation. How to get the most out of your replaced knee joint while keeping it healthy for the long-term so that you never have to go back to another knee surgeon. Thanks so much for these videos. I'm 72, have been coddling my right leg due to hip bursitis for 4-5 years and now what a mess! The hip is resolving but my knees are toast! I found that trying to do glute strengthening exercises, I couldn't even find them! LOL! My brain quit talking to those muscles. So trying to actually isolate them in an exercise was impossible. Now, "Oh, there you are!" Works especially well when I am standing. Just the glute tightening exercise is helping me reconnect them to my brain - my left cheek is actually a little sore after just starting! But the right is incredibly weak. This is such a great place for me to start regaining my knee strength. Thank you thank you thank you.

I am using a walker and ice and heat. Taking Motrin and move free and staying off of it as much as possible. I am making headway. The first thing they want to do is surgery or knee replacement and I don’t want either. I saw where they are not recommending knee surgery for meniscus because it can heal on its own. You have given me so much useful information. Thank you!

Recently started having extreme knee pain. Was sent by NP to get x-rays and referred to an Ortho. More x-rays were done. Told I had the start of osteoarthritis w/something floating. Was given a cortisone shot that didn't relieve the pain just made my leg feel numb for a little while. Continued on with the pain. Eventually after a week and half went to ER. Felt like I had a toddler wrapped around my leg. No help, but sent to another Ortho who just badgered me about my weight and Meloxicam usage. More x-rays, and told knee replacement due to bone on bone and spurs. 2 weeks different in between x-rays and surgeons. No follow up other than how well did we do. Changed my shoes and started using a sleeve folded in half worn below my knee. I walk wobbly but no pain.

The tailgate swing is what fixed my knees. My MRI showed a little arthritis and a meniscus tears in both. Went onto the glucosemain sulphate, msm, fish oil for 6 months, still take them and did the tailgate swing, only I increased the activity 10 fold. That is I applied ankle weights to my ankle (3kg), which further opened up the joint and applied a hot wheat pack on top of my knee to increase more blood flow to the joint. My knees feel like 25 again and I'm approaching 60 yo. I still can jog on grass for an hour with no pain.

From a professional position, I totally agree with the decrease in stretching as well I 100% agree with strengthening G-Max muscles. Too many Physical/physio therapists are funnel focused on the Vastus medialis when the reality is: if the hip has medial load due to weakness in external rotators of the hip, you can strengthen the quads to live long day, it's not going to help all that much. Lock clams, kettlebell swings, rack pulls, all great to build the G-max. Keep up the great content

It really helps me to use a cane now and then. If I didn't, I might stay home and do more sitting, and that is far worse. The cane gives me better balance and takes weight of the leg. I refuse to have knee surgery. In 2013, I had a horrible tear in my right shoulder. I was told to have surgery, but I opted out and got PT and worked on it at home. It healed in no time! Our bodies are wonderfully made! No surgery on my shoulder, and I am perfectly well. Now, I pray the same will be for my knees! I just have to put time into it. And these videos are so encouraging! Thank you for them!

Hey Sheila, absolutely yes keeping weight under control helps, but it's not the full picture! It may be more important if your weight is very excessive, but if your weight is not too excessive, then addressing the muscle imbalance would be more important to focus first. Listening to you I found myself nodding like a horse on a farm! So many of those stretches I have found thru trial and error. The latest one was the gluten tightening, It keeps the knee in place. Then you talk about it all, as if I was supposed to find your channel. My whole rt side of body is weaker, because of a slight, life long scoliosis. Meniscus repair on the rt knee a few years back. Sometimes it still " clicks" but worth the surgery. I do walk about 45 min almost daily, then "twist and turn " on the floor stretching. I am a senior lady and my mother is my example. She did yoga and plates in the 50's and 60's and put her bones back in place with different sizes of small balls that she had ready in a cloth bag! This was before there was chiropractic. She lived to be 99. She always said, that body was made to move. I also deal with S.I joint and doctor is recommending a new series of shots...was it phelotherapy?? I should look up the real nsme as now I am guessing. At my grandma age, still looking for natural methods. My knee only bothers me from overuse, or side to side moves. Thank you for shoving a few more moves to work on...yes, I also ballroom dance, which is a wonderful exercise, but there too, I have to remember my age and this arthritis that pests us humans.Thank you again!

Thank You El Paso MPT for this informative and a little unconventional OA treatments. I am Bone on Bone in my right Knee, and also have OA in the left knee and left Hip. I have numerous spinal Maladies which have stemmed from a Leg length discrepancy (LLD) - right leg is 1 inch shorter. I'm 71 YO, male. I suffered a Fractured right Femur in 1966 (15 yo) form playing HS Football. After the full Body cast came off in 3 months, my right leg was 1 inch shorter. It surprised the doctor and after measuring both of my parent's legs [my mother had 1/4" shorter right leg] opined that I must have had that as well. The LLD was left unaddressed, never advising my parents to have my shoes orthodically adjusted. About 15 years later, I started to have lower back pain and stiffness. I knew it was coming from the LLD. The LLD invoked Dextroscoliosis of 25 degrees now, twisting and curving my spine and knocking my Hips out. Not until 2011 when the pains and stiffness have traversed up to my head (cervical spine), did I finally get my shoes adjusted per the new doctor's script. but it was far too late - he told me that it won't correct anything but could help to stop further deterioration. The Spondyliosis / facet Joint arthritis is extensive. Sites of Lumbar and cervical Stenosis and a number of disc bulges with DDD too. The science of Physiatry is amazing! I continue to do research to seek whatever can offer relief. I do take various supplements and trying to drink more water - Which I never did !!

I read somewhere that bouncing up and down on a rebounder helps lubricate the joints. It also helps with the lymphatic drainage. Would you recommend using a mini trampoline/rebounder for knee problems? I don't have arthritis of the knee but have had some knee pain from time to time because I'm slightly overweight and know I need to get my weight down. Also I twisted my knee years ago and that may be the reason I'm experiencing some pain there. I do take devils claw and glucosamine as well as collagen protein powder. I also heard that ingesting hyluronic acid helps lubricate joints too.

Thank you so much for your no nonsense common sense. I am writing from the UK. I first went to the doctor about my knees 15 years ago. I was told it was old age and that was it. No help or advice about delaying symptoms. It got worse in both knees and last year was diagnosed with severe knee arthritis. I was told to go back when I’m at the stage of going downstairs on my bottom. No advice here re glutes but I have listened and obeyed you and the pain has not got worse. I am fit, I cycle to a gym and do Spin three days a week. I also do Pilates twice a week. Absolutely NO impact. I have full moment in my leg but cannot sit back on my heels. I carry nothing on my back and use a shopping trolley for loads. I walk with sticks but find I can cycle up to 10 miles . I am following your exercises in the hope I can delay a replacement. I do find my hamstrings are keen on going into cramp and am not sure what to do about that. I am 73. Thank you again.
