My word. I did this while you were talking and said "reassurance" - then you said it a moment later. Amazing!

Would love to know how this could be used for adoptees who have no memory of their separation from their birth parents, or even compounded trauma from childhood abuse in the adoptive home.
@MichaelPatersonOBE2 жыл бұрын
The experience of a distressing preverbal separation, or preverbal abuse, will have been stored in a maladaptive memory network in a way that was appropriate at that time (i.e. emotionally and somatically). In the present, we can ask our client to bring an image to mind of how they (the older person) would see that child who had the separation or abuse. Follow on with, "Look into the child's eyes ....etc.", as described in the above video.

When you say 'no memory' I am inclined to disagree: memories are somatic and coded into body/mind in maladaptive patterns and need to be unlocked. Trauma is often repressed and not remembered until a trigger event occurs. EMDR helps release and rewire the brain's emotional center in the amygdala so that memories are remembered but not negatively charged anymore.

@@marktwain368 let me clarify, no conscious memory. I am an EFT practitioner so I understand the mind, body connection and muscle memory. Was looking for additional insights from the good doctor, as, unfortunately, this is a highly under researched subject. However, I appreciate your reply.

There is no chapter by Robin Shapiro of approximate tittle Adult survivors of neglect” in Solutions 2 or 1 for that matter.

I am sorry to see that you feel you should respond to my video in that way. In my defence, I did not say there was a chapter on that topic in the book. If you read thtough the book, you will find what I am speaking about .

Why are you using slow BLS instead of fast in the example you're giving?
@MichaelPatersonOBE Жыл бұрын
It is slow BLS in Phase 2 because this is Preparation/Stabilisation. Fast BLS is reserved for the reprocessing Phases of 4, 5 and 6.
