I’ve been recovering from COVID for the past month and my teeth and gums have been suffering a lot. Terrible teeth sensitivity, pain, and gum recession. I have feelings of terror, fear, and guilt that my teeth will become loose and fall out. But as you say, I noticed the pain and fear multiplies when I focus on it and feel victimized, but when I surrender it, the pain seems to subside because I wasn’t focusing on it. I wondered if it was some “silly placebo,” because I’m still giving all the power and belief to form and almost none to the mind that is projecting all of it. Thank you for confirming this lesson and I will continue to surrender this fear

Pain for me (migraines) was another equal unreal veil to protect me from love, gods love. Guilt of seperation, fear of god, projection of pain, reinforcing the need for protection and reality of the bodies fragility. Pain defends us against truth, its like gods light is looking at us but we place pain between for the ego to project false beliefs of god's judgement and punishment. "We must be guilty, look at the pain you're in, you're being punished and should be afraid of god, god created a world of suffering and left you here, god hates you..." bla bla ego, forgiveness. I choose god instead of fear, I choose god instead of guilt, I choose god instead of pain. There is no guilt in me, in you or in anything that is real. God loves us forever unconditionally. I accept the miracle! Thankyou! :)

Bless you, this video came my way, just after having asked the Holy Spirit, why I don’t heal from my illnesses, while I’m convinced I don’t feel resistance against the truth!!. Well, this shed a bright light on the issue of not healing. I’m the one not forgiving myself for past mistakes made. So guilt was hiding from my sight. And now I’m answered and can handed over to the Holy Spirit. ❤️

My guilt has always been about "cowardice" with respect to facing fear. Seems the courage expected of me in this is extraordinary - far more than I could bring to bear. So there is where I've remained since childhood (50+ yrs). Has been since the late 70's that I've been acquainted with ACIM. Have suffered deep depression since childhood as well. Have had social phobia as well - which prevented me from dating, pursuing a life long dream of a music career, and being too intimated to fight for justice and protect others. For sure fear/guilt are ever present in my life. I could be the last "holdout" in the Sonship after everyone else - in facing fear!

There is a wonderful article on ACIM blog titled "Moving from fear into Real Peace - Dave Van Dyke". I read this article often and it helps me and comforts me more than anything else. It begins with the words "This is written especially for the person who has given up, who is desperate and feels that there may actually be no possibility for them to be healed from fear or some other issue."

I am currently going through Benzo w/d so perhaps some of what my statement is coming from that place - in any case, I am so troubled by my ugly statements - but I don't know what else to say - honestly. I love animals more than people and I need to somehow lose the fear of people.

I have the same problem and I also know what benzo withdrawal feels like. I completely sympathize with you. The article that I mentioned in my first comment really helps me to calm down and relax a little more. Regarding the fear of people I use a number of little quotes that I have collected over the years from various wise source. For example "Risk rejection at every opportunity. This is how to break out of yourself. Start in small ways" and "Embarrass yourself every day - success is optional". When I think of these quotes at the right time, it helps me very much. :)

Wow - yes I was worried I was odd in having this sort of guilt complex! Oh yes, the Benzo is rough going for anyone. I'm into 14 mo. now - still hoping to see light at the end of this long dark tunnel. Will have a look at the article you sited. Peace . . .

14 months, that's great. :) I still take these pills sometimes, but in reality they don't help me anymore at all. If anything, they make me feel even more anxious ..... and a bit drowsy which is also a very unpleasant feeling. I think the Holy Spirit in me is telling me that I don't need these pills anymore.

Although we have to be careful as to just what we are attempting to free another from. For no one can be free to be what they where not created to be. No one can be freed from being of The One Son of God. Worth a very worthy distinction would you also say? ✝️🙏

But if someone is for example hitting a child or an animal. How can they be free from guilt? They are guilty of abuse and cruelty. How can I see that differently and why would I? Isn’t that like giving people a free pass to do cruel things? And shouldn’t I react and tell that person? Please help me understand.

Hi Hella! Here is a quote from the Course that may help: "You are not guiltless in time, but in eternity. You have “sinned” in the past, but there is no past. Always has no direction." This is not about giving a free pass in form. But even as our brothers behave insanely, we can hold the truth in our minds as to who they truly are... for they have surely forgotten or they could not cause harm in the first place. If you witness harm, ask for guidance as to what to do and say and then do or say it. Yes, we can certainly respond in the moment.
