Unresolved trauma festers like a flesh-eating bacteria on a wound. The longer it stays unattended to, the deeper it eats into the soul of the host. Muthoni Gitau, an African content creator and DIY queen knows this all too well. After a traumatic violation, Muthoni thought she could suppress the pain and for years, sought ways to numb it with alcohol. This only led to more pain. A caring friend and a therapist have helped her begin dealing with the layers of pain. Now she doesn’t need to hide behind red lipstick. In this candid and courageous story, we are encouraged to feel and deal with our pain to heal.

This evokes such strong feelings for many of us who've gone through something similar. I really doubt the 14% figure is accurate, many many women never report sexual abuse and rape to anyone. Ask women around you and without a doubt, they all have a story. Muthoni is an amazing storyteller, and I pray she'll truly find healing. Thank you so much for sharing.

14%is a 1/3 of what is reported.There is no support in the country so people prefer to keep it to themselves.Remember there is what they call intimate partner sexual violence.That is considered rape even if it is your boyfriend or spouse.

This broke my heart.. We African are so cruel towards our children. What happened to this talented creative young lady had happened because she was so afraid of her father! 💔 Sometimes, we trust friends more than our famlies! which is wrong. Our families should be our support system, not our suppressors.

You can't really blame the parent coz do they really know what they're doing? Given what they've been through n maybe what they're still going through to provide for you. Sometimes life becomes overwhelming n we lose it
@micente4028
@micente4028 2 жыл бұрын
@@janetmuthoni6919 I don’t think that blaming but stating a truth that is unfortunate. The parents may not know what they are doing but that doesn’t negate the fact that had they been supportive, the probability of such things happening could be lower.
