My notes. Don't mind me. Tools 1. Yoga and meditation 2. Getting outside everyday - even walking back and forth 3. Filter negative input - news etc from social media, news etc. 4. Mindset work - self soothing, reframing, using your top strengths (via character assessment), empowering questions, what can I learn from this, leaning into gratefulness 5. HeartMath institute - heart coherence & self regulation - opening your window of tolerance (space between hyperawareness & hypoawareness)

Just throwing this out there in case it applies to your elderly dog 🐶- I recently found out that my 13 yr old dachshund has doggie dementia (canine cognitive dysfunction/disorder). Like people with dementia he has “sundowning” which means he gets more anxious, confused and restless into the evening and he now gets up in the middle of the night many times going for a drink, peeing on the pee pad, repeat x 6. He’s not dehydrated, he’s just repeating a behaviour he used to do occasionally at night maybe once a night (minus the peeing). Anyhoo- if anyone is reading this and your old dog is acting anxious or whining especially at night- it could be this. But please check with your vet to rule out other health issues like urinary tract infections, pain, digestive issues, etc.

Yep, I had a foster dog who sundowned every night. It was tough on all of us. Poor guy.

Girl, I realized coffee is a NO-GO for me! Raised my anxiety through the roof---also knowing that with ADHD I already have that natural energy about me anyway. So I'm in the process of healing my nervous system by lowering my caffeine intake (more specifically, coffee)

I’m a psychologist myself, and I focus on all things, including ADHD with my patients I myself have ADHD, and really enjoyed your video… And also, God bless you for saving Chloe. I love that you are taking care of your dogs, and even adopting a new one that shows truecharacter and kindness really made my day to hear that

So, very sorry about the water damage. I' ve seen a product for dishwashers its pan or a tank that goes underneath the dishwasher. If the dishwasher leaks it goes into the receptical and drains into your plumbing and never ruins the interior of your home. Other great things to consider for appliances wirh a water supply are automatic shut-off values for the for the hot water heater, washing machine, etcetera, so if the tank starts to leak or whose fails , the emergency shut-off value shuts off the water supply. So, if you are not home you won"t come back to a swimming pool in your house. We had a dishwasher fail. Fortunately, when it did it was very obvious from the start. Still a big freaking mess. Also, tree roots backing up water into the basement. Never the start of a good day. Hope everything goes well and quickly. Love your channel. Take care. All the best to your fur babies too.

The only thing I really don't like about the VIA Adult questionnaire is they use a LOT of definitive terminology... ALWAYS... NEVER... EVERYONE... Nothing is always or never, and no one treats EVERYONE the same. If someone is mean to your child, or kicks a dog, you won't sit and smile at them and hold a normal conversation... so my brain freezes each time I see those words in a question, and I auto-pilot to "neutral". And, yes, catastrophizing is a huge hurdle for me, but each of these questions with those definitive words just locks my mind up.

Oh this was good!! I'm gonna ck out heart math. I tried an apollo neuro last month but did not feel any of the benefits even though I know people rave about it. Always trying to find some way to expand my nervous systems capacity bc I think that small window I have is one of the reasons I get triggered into migraine so frequently. Anyhoo you reminded me to breathe and that 5 mins of meditation does make a diff!❤

Re the neuro. There is a learning curve ti get thru before you actually use it. Learn the course then try it. ::)

So many good tips throughout this video! Normally don't like long videos but watched this one fully without the need to skip and found the whole talk super calming, especially with the dogs lounging in the background. Loved the backstory, hope your house renovations go well and both dogs are happy and healthy!

When we look at things from the point of view of the nervous system, there are a lot of automatisms that do not require our intervention in order for all things to fall into place and function as they should. when I panic at the memory of a traumatic or frustrating event, I try to have the reflex to remember this divine engineering to move to a calmer and reassuring perspective in order to return to what I was doing or planning to do before the resurgence of this bad memory. OK: let's not overdo coffee and other stimulants.

I've just recently found your channel, love your stuff, Caren!! I am 35, and I'm kinda going through a mid-life thing right now...😬 I am undiagnosed, but I definitely suspect I have ADHD. I kinda don't know where to get started... if you have any ideas for where/how to get a diagnosis, I would greatly appreciate your help!❤ P.S. I ❤ Dr. Joe Dispenza! I have his book, Becoming Supernatural-- it definitely changed my mind alot!

Omgosh the heart center exercise... I've already been doing this for years for my anxiety and panic through my own discovery! 😂 I'll realize I'm holding my breath and breathing really shallow, so I do a quick body scan and slow my breathing. Problem is I'll also start crying from the relief 😂 Which is fine! Crying is catharsis, and with my close friends they understand because I share my experience with them instead of trying to hide it. (I tell them I'm a sappy crier - happy things make me cry so much easier than sad things LOL)

I also recently found your channel and it probably is full of really good stuff with important information on how to get going in your life with adhd. Unfortunately, because of ADHD I can’t seem to follow. I’m not trying to be mean, but I do see your adhd 😘. It is very fast talking and lots of jumping from info to info. Thanks for your videos and for helping the adhd community.

@@CarenMagill My understanding is that processing of speech is generally harder if one has ADHD. And remember that some followers are not native speakers. So it might take a bit of an extra effort for many. For me your speed works but I have kind of good understanding of context as I've been studying the topic for a few years.

Caren, can you share which HeartMath course you're doing?
@CarenMagill Жыл бұрын
I did the coaching course, but honestly, unless you're already a coach, I wouldn't recommend it. It's not a comprehensive coaching program... just more of an add on to what you're already doing. That said, they do have other courses, and I think some of them are free. You might even want to start with their books. bit.ly/3MUEUBj

I don’t get it 😕 Can anyone rephrase for someone who doesn’t do yoga or meditate and has no idea what is meant by “heart center”? How do I breathe out of it? Please be kind ❤
@CarenMagill Жыл бұрын
Just focus on the area around your heart. That is your heart center. Breathe deeply and slowly and think of a regenerative feeling, like care or gratitude. Don't overthink it.

Heart coherence... Yaaaasssss! Bottom line... No TO DO before the WOO WOO for me. My awareness /ability to see when I have gone into hyper-focus or gone off task or am reacting is like 80% more on-point from various forms of heart coherence and a long deep "I Am" morning meditation. "Don't have time" is now a joke cuz... It is like "Really girl... Cuz how long you been tryna get that done? A year? Mmmkay. " #Didit #nonresistance #boom

Go you! It makes me laugh someone says "she gets to the point at... " No hate, just a lil funny... But a bit... " #whenyouareadhd and help others but #whateveraboutyou JUST HELP US!" What I heard in first seven mins 1) Shitshow did not result in video with one frame "Sorry, shitshow... See y'all in a week" 2) Save money this could happen to you... might need emergency Air BnB some time 3)Maybe get a dog 4) she prolly REALLY did not want to talk to us... Was like eff this people. 5) This is a good, generous person People and dogs 6) SUFFER... not just those of us who are like, "GIMME CONTENT Basically... She stops rambling timestamp reminds me of a huge "rambling" funny, article I wrote to GIVE reader the EXPERIENCE of ADHD. One "seasoned" writer commented. "Very interesting. Thank you for the information. I have some suggestions about structure that might make it easier to follow." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Me too, bro. Me too.

Yes. You keep stating what ended up being your solution, “I am grateful”, “I am so grateful”, “I am just grateful”🙂. Me, personally, “I am not in a war torn country, I’m not in a war torn country, I am NOT in a war torn country so, I am so, so, SO grateful🌬️❤️🩹🕊️. And… I’ve taken a step back from broadcast media. Social media I find to be a little more controllable compared to wanting to throw things at the TV or radio🙂. Heart coherence, as per advanced meditation eg. Vipassana and even Buddhism. When can we have coffee? Aren’t you going to get a few of us together, when you travel… northwards🍁🍂? …😌
