I love you. You're the first one I saw talking about testing with spare PSU which I happened to have lying around. I did the test with the spare and the entire system worked so that immediately singled out a problem with the PSU. Turns out that I had the 24-pin connector connected on the motherboard but not the PSU itself (it's a mini SFX psu). THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I used your paperclip method, and I was able to get the fan to spin. reconnected the power supply to the PC with no luck. so I drove down to the Goodwill computer store to buy a power supply for 4.99 I figured what the heck I'll be out $5 if it doesn't work and I can't rule out that it's the power supply. and sure enough the computer is now running. I do not think that the paper clip is 100% accurate in letting you know that the power supply is bad or good. but overall your video was very educational and I learned a lot. Thank you!

Same here. Without going too in detail. I'll unplug everything, reconnect graphics card, drain the power then after that plug only the power cable in and it sometimes will boot up after trying 20 times. I keep trying til it will power back up with everything plugged in.

Hi, really appreciate that you answer comments so often, My computer shut down randomly while in use, and hasn't been able to turn on since. I've done the paperclip test to see if the PSU works; it does. When I connect the 24 pin and the 8 pin connectors to the mobo, I get no LED, but somehow the USBs work, as I can use the USBs to charge a phone. All that is currently installed is the CPU, Mobo, PSU and 2 sticks of ram. No idea what to do, Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA 970A-D3, PSU is a Corsair TX550M Thanks in advance.

@@HealMyTech1 i still think its clear and somewhat high quality i have this problem maybe you could help me with im currently building a budget pc for a friend and when i plug my 24 pin connector to the motherboard the psu starts buzzing and it wont boot (no fan spining no led lights nothing ) so i took the psu to professional to test it and he told me its working then i tried a different psu with that motherboard and it worked fine so now i know that the psu and the motherboard are working what do you think the problem is ? the psu is gigabyte 550p 500W and the motherboard is gigabyte ga-h61m-s2pv with intel core i7-2600

Have you tried the PSU back into the PC again after the professional visit? And do you know what test they did exactly? This test is only a turn on test but not proper voltage test...!

Got so many BOSD recently, i thought it was my newly installed WLan adapter that causing the main problem, updated the driver, everything seems fine. But more recently, PC restart itself while playing game. Blank monitor. Need to force shut down by turning off the PSU (Ouch!), holding on the power button (on casing) simply didnt work. Unplugged any cable, plugged back in, everything turned on, fan, Led, cpu fan, but no signal at the monitor. Turned off again. Unplugged the GPU, same workaround (this time, monitor pluged into motherboard onboard GPU), turned it on, finally a signal in the monitor, but the screen constantly beeping (not sound wise, but the screen), on and off-on and off. Checked the motherboard status (via 2 LED), no LED turned on=it says Abnormal. Sooo, faulty PSU then?

The start of the video is brilliant :) (Make coffee first rofl) 06:22 I heard that there are power supplies that break if you use them without a load or will not turn on. So you should put a dummy load on it. Lighting and audio is OK. The content is way more important. But if you want to improve the lighting there are a ton of videos how to make softboxes or other lighting equipment. I'd probably go with the LED construction floodlights from any hardware store or online supply.

This is the worst 2 weeks of my life... my pc stopped working. The fan was spinning and motherboard was working, but ports on the graphic card and the motherboard werent working... so i sent it to repair. They were fixing it and said they came to a dead end.. that they cant fix it . I got the call today saying my computer is toast and unfixable, and they voided my warranty by accident ... So im sending it to another repair center which is surposebly better and should fix it for $159 Wish me luck guys Update : i got a call that they may fix it, and may not... if they dont im on my own. Is your PC capable with Overclock? if so, Its a Wire Related problem.. if Not, the PC could be at extreme temperatures... But dont worry, Just leave it for a Day or so.. and the temperatures should be capable for a Nice bootup!

Is my pc dead if my psu sparked but the reason the psu sparked because I plug in the psu in the power connector of the motherboard while it’s still powered on and grounded ( I didn’t know that it is powered on, the motherboard power connector sparks too but I unplug it as soon as it sparked. . The pc is not running when the sparking happens, it’s just the psu that’s turned on )

I think my motherboard is sorting out the graphics card. Bought a new psu but again the mb sorted the card and had to get it replaced. Now I'm not putting it inside since i don't want to go to the service center for the third time to get a replacement for the vga card. I want to know is it the mb which is frying the thing up? The card worked for days prior to the occurences so no idea what is causing these failure on the card. Its a Digilite 960gmx, with an AMD fx6400 and vs450 psu & a gt 1030

I have similar issue yesterday, I cant boot up my pc, and because Its an old pc happens all the sudden so this method doesnt work obviously. after numerous test, I've found the culprit, I have 4 ram sticks apparently 1 was out. I remove all the rams and only use 1 to test it out it works like a charm. Now i have to identify which ram is broken. Hope this helps.

There’s lights in the case but the PC doesn’t turn on. Occasionally it does after turning the power switch off and on again a dozen times or so and when it’s on I can use it just fine but when I try to boot it up another time, it just won’t work.
