Thanks everyone for commenting, I appreciate it a lot! In case you were wondering, after a bit of research, I am aiming to get GIVI Trekker Outback 42L silver aluminium topbox for CB500X. Regarding panniers, I absolutely LOVE how the bike looks with them boxy square panniers hanging on the sides, but considering practicality I think I'll stick with a top box for now.

Congratulations on 7K subs man. Outstanding. I'm still searching for 1K. One day. Well deserved my man.

Nice summary of the products. Mr Greg - IMO, for looks - side panniers, for practicality - top box, for "touring" - both. Cheers Andy.

Thanks bud :) I agree with Andy, he is wise! I do end up using my topbox 99% of the time tho.

What's in a name . . . The makers can't have read Evelyn Waugh's "Sword of Honour" trilogy which is where I first encountered a "Thunderbox". Shows my age I suppose. Interesting to know these things exist, and with your install videos you make them accessible to a wider audience. Always fun 👍
@TheGorillaBiker2 жыл бұрын
You'd never know, maybe they did :P Yeah I'd hope the average human takes some confidence to take these things on. The only way to learn being handy on tools is practice. Thanks bud :)

That thunderbox looks like a great idea (might get one for the Griso). I prefer top box to panniers more for the ease of access to gear.

Have to say it saves a huge amount of hassle! I'll be taking this one off the bike and taking it with me :P Yeah the top box is the one I do use most, but the big top opening panniers also look the business

I really really really need to fit my speedohealer to my Gixer.... is doing my head in not knowing how fast I am going on it. Grats on the 7k subs 🙂 On Greg's bike I'd go for a top-box 😀

@@TheGorillaBiker Aye... although I am guessing I should probably not announce on the channel when I have gotten round to fitting it! :D hahaha Hope you have had an awesome holiday mate? Is so nice to get away and just chillax. Imposter syndrome is a real thing, and every human, that isn't a psychopath pretty much goes through it when they get recognition for doing something well. So even if you don't believe you deserve it, know that 7000 people say otherwise... and once more people watch your content, that number will be very much higher. You have an incredible channel, but it is you that has made it that way, no one else mate!

Haha yeah just keep telling everyone the Speedo is a mile off 😂😂 Sure put Speedos are always broken aren't they 😂😂 Its been brilliant man thanks, first time away with just herself in a long time, I will make a video with some photos and clips I took :) You're good at words, it'll take me a while(if ever) to believe them but I certainly didn't get here on my own either way, the likes of you have had a massive hand in it as well whether ye know it or not, so thanks again for all the support Pete :)

For Greg I’d say side panniers personally, better profile. But maybe one big top box would be more useful?
@TheGorillaBiker2 жыл бұрын
Definitely yes and the CB500x is nice and narrow so they would fit in there nicely. A top box, while they generally are a big blob are just so so handy for helmets etc etc at stops. I think for me I'd say top box first but eventually fill it out fully. I know I use my topbox way way more than my panniers, but that might be different if I had the top opening panniers rather than the clamshell style.

I’ve never used a quick shifter, but look forward to trying it out in the future. Regarding top box vs panniers, I’d rather have the panniers. A top box may be handy, but tends to look goofy sitting out there on its own. Just my opinion! 😂
@TheGorillaBiker2 жыл бұрын
They're so much fun, just silly really but are a blast to use :) Yeah top boxes do generally look goofy I will admit :D I still use my topbox 98% of the time over the panniers.

Just the top box Gregg fer sure ,interesting one I do kinda wonder what if any the long term effect an after market quick shifter might have on a bike that was not designed to have a shifter and I assume there is no blipper "maybe nothing " I have no clue just putting it out there 😊. Been thinking so gotta ask have ya tried this chain monkey and lazor alignment tool GB bit random I know but I was thinking that not every body weighs the same and there is only one setting ,interested ta know what ya think .This maybe another inane question 😉👍

I've used the QS on the GSXR for well over 1000km on track now, and that's absolutely hammering it. Only thing it might affect in the long run is the clutch basket :) I can't see it ever wearing the gearbox in any meaningful way. Gearboxes in bikes are very very strong generally. Plus the way QS's work is they change the gear when the engine is "unloaded" so really I have zero concerns. I have seen them, I honestly personally wouldn't ever bother as the ruler is just as fast imo, and cheaper :P The slack with the bikes weight on the bike is always the same spec tho so should be the same for everyone, the preload and spring should look after the different weights :) No such thing :)
